A big round lacey crocheted doily in rainbow colours. The pattern has alternating rows of loose spaces and denser more stitch-filled rows. It starts a pinkish red in the middle with a 12-pointed flower, then graduates to lilac, purple, blue, blue-green, green, and yellow, with a red-pink trim around the outside.

One of my first doily projects needed a wash and reblocking. It sat for awhile, but I finally got a burst of motivation to complete the project. A good hour and a half well spent. I'm inspired to start another doily. I started a bucket hat and am not happy with the progress. Doilies are so repetitive and meditative, I can think through other patterns while I work on a bonus project! So many to choose from. The hunt is on.

My husband got me a cool hexagonal side table at an estate sale, so of course the first thing I did was make a doily for it.

I don't have a pattern for this one because I did it freehand. My goal was an autumn theme with a sunburst, wheat, and pinecones.

A long, rounded, diamond-shaped lace doily in cream-white on an oak hexagonal table. The center is a pentacle with a spiraling sunburst around it interspersed with straight wheat-shaped lines. On each side there are three large, swooping pinecone shapes that turn the circling spiral into a long oval.

Made as a gift for my grandma in 2020, pretty much just on a whim to see what making a doily would be like. It turned out great and was a lot of fun, but our house has extremely limited uses for doilies so I have so far resisted making any more.

...so far.
