If you are on a multi-user #SteamDeck or other handheld using #SteamOS (or similar distros, like #Bazzite deck or #CachyOS handheld edition) and want external applications like emulators to take the Steam user into account, you can make use of the $SteamAppUser environment variable. I now pass this as `--profile $SteamAppUser` inside #EmuDeck launch scripts for emulators that support user profiles for save game separation.
@kurau I use it mostly for app-driven backups of stuff, where Nextcloud is a backup choice next to Google Drive and the like.
It's where my Obsidian notes are stored.
I'm trying to find a not-$48/yr way (looking at you, EmuDeck) to use it for PC & SteamDeck syncing of videogame emulation stuff.
Well I tried to do an easy #EmuDeck install to my #SteamDeck but things are going a bit tougher than I anticipated so I’ll need to do a bit more tinkering. :BlobhajSadReach:
My hypothesis worked.
I wiped Eden's .local & .config & storage data on the Steam Deck. Copied the .local & storage data over from the Bazzite HTPC. Now both machines have matching Eden user profile IDs and sync to the same ID on Nextcloud.
Though it sunk in to me that it's only a one-way cloud backup to Nextcloud from either device. Actually syncing between devices costs $48/year. That's a tough proposition.

New Nintendo Switch emulator, Eden, dropped recently. Developed by Camille, who departed the Citron project due to conflict with its problematic lead, Zephyron.
@flwwhtrbt yeah, I already use #HeroicGamesLauncher on it, and I'd been favoring #EmuDeck so far but I need to give #RetroDECK a try
I also use #Lutris to manage my itch.io and non-store games
Посмотрел что такое EmuDeck на примере эмуляции PS2. Работает хорошо. Повозился немного чтобы игра отображалась из оболочки, также настроил синхронизацию сохранений через Syncthing с NAS и компом, на котором тоже есть эмуляция PS2. Была мысль ещё образы игр скачивать по "воздуху", но пока не решил, стоит ли заморачиваться ради 2-3х игр.
Having finished #SkinDeep (which is great btw) been sticking with Steam and working on the backlog:
#DungeonGolf Putt putt golf with monsters and treasure chests, and if that wasn't amusing enough already the TV broadcast presentation with a play by play and color commentator just adds to the silliness.
#4DGolf another putt putt game, but this one hurts my head. The "4th" dimension is another physical plane. I still haven't quite grasped the concept.
#EnaDreamBBQ is some damn strange stuff. I was unaware of the YT vids so all I saw was a trailer for it at some point and wishlisted it on Steam. Chapter One dropped in March and I missed the notif somehow, partner watches some channels that do gameplay vids and she reminded me about it yesterday. Free DL btw, and do rec checking it out.
#ProjectGorgon Picked this one up as I liked the concept of basically everything you do being a skill, even dying lol. Also attempting to fill the #WoW vacancy in my gaming life, figured why not add a "new to me" MMO.
#ClunkyHero Been my #SteamDeck bedtime game lately. It's a fairly routine metroidvania which is fine. Story is amusing. Suits the "half hour session" play style well.
#MarioGolf no, not that one, or that one. The Gameboy Color one, lol. Been the other Deck game lately. #EmuDeck ftw.
I'm also still doing the #PSVR2 most days, so either #NoMansSky or #GT7 atm. May have another look at the compatible list to see if there's anything worth picking up.

Much sadness about ShadPS4 developer putting out a new version and annihilating previous compatibility list.
They dropped from 320+ titles working to 20+ titles with the 7.1.0 version.
They also removed the PKG installer from the main package, which is the most popular format for dumping original games without the need to rip them.
I'll continue following their work but it's a NO GO for me, at least for now.
I'll also hope EmuDeck will add other PS4 emulators in the future, because the potential is quite huge.
