Recently Medicare rules changed so that you cannot claim ANY rebate from Medicare for a telephone consultation with your General Practitioner unless you have seen them IN PERSON in the past 12 months. This creates a massive barrier to medical care for anyone who is housebound due to chronic illness/Disability; and also to anyone who cannot afford to risk catching COVID in a doctor's waiting room. Am at a loss to where to ask for help to find a #doctor #Physician #GP #GeneralPractitioner who wants to help a patient with complex needs. Is there anywhere on #Mastodon to ask? I’ve been to FB *shudder* many times and nothing. Even the super secret groups. If you’re an existing patient it’s ok but NEW patients are turned away. Even more #doctors are retiring now it’s the New Year. What can I do?

Yes I’ve contacted Emerge, they no longer have a recommended dr list.
If you do Video Telehealth, anywhere in #Australia could work. Possibly overseas.
I’m in #Melbourne (the suburbs, not inner city).
