If you aren't engaging in regular activities to encourage / require staff to recommit to the mission of the nonprofit / NGO, to keep it centered in their work, you're going to end up with silos & busy work that muddles your outreach & fundraising efforts.

😵 Dark mode just cost me two straight days of work at least. How? Just look at the picture below and witness things appearing out of nothing.

Background info: I like #Futo #LouisRossmann and the #ConsumerRightsWiki and planned to do a drive-by-contribution so that they get a proper logo.

And, yes, I DID search thoroughly for an existing logo. Now that I'm almost finished I turned on dark mode by accident and was baffled. Looks like all my work was for nothing.

Another thing happened during the last session: I felt comfortable and confident enough to say in the middle of a big set piece, "Please give me a moment to write this down."
And it was much better for everyone than for me to try to struggle and keep the scene going _while_ taking notes.

I think the last session was a milestone in my development as a GM: I presented the initial situation to my players, asked "What do you do?" and then simply shut up.
For what felt like an eternity, but probably was half a minute or less.
And then my players started to (inter)act and the session just flew by.

#LessonLearned: You are familiar with the situation you prepped. Your players need time to digest it. Give it to them.

Some years ago, @DoorbellQueen taught me you can revive limp celery by chopping off its stem, and putting it in cold water overnight.

Recently, I have found out this works for carrots and cauliflower too. You have to cut them into three-inch pieces and submerge them, and the carrots might need a couple of days, but it works!

Veggies go limp because they dry out. Hydrate them, and they become crisp again. Might well work with others, too.

Remember that part where you're warned to never lend a book that you'd actually want returned to you?

Shit.

It's been maybe 10 weeks. Friend is moving, and I figured since he never brought it up, he never got around to reading the book, so I ask for it back.

And...he can't find it and barely remembers me giving it to him.

It's not priceless. I can afford to buy myself another copy, but goddamn, keep track of your shit. More importantly, keep track of my shit!

Learned today that you shouldn't worry or think about whether you would be happier doing or being with someone else. Ask yourself, am I happy now? If the answer is yes, keep going. If it's not, change. Don't expect that you will be happier by changing, but you're setting yourself up for more happiness.

I just told a couple off for bringing their own food and drink to one of the cafés I go to often (I know the owners, am friendly with the staff, and I know how hard it is to run a restaurant in these times). I might have been a bit harsh, but I got confronted about it later, and we had a talk. They know not to bring their own food to a restaurant, and I know not to call strangers assholes for no good reason.

@RaymondsCorner I was recently passed with recording and doing the audio video for a wedding. Unfortunately, with speaker view/share view being the only view that was recorded, none of the auxiliary input video sources I used were captured in the reporting. Gallery view will record every video that’s on the screen and Enlarge the view of the person speaking. So it wouldn’t have been perfect, but at least it would’ve captured the wedding in video. #LessonLearned

Spoiler: Man kann auf Vorrat grinden, aber nicht zu viel, da sonst die ätherischen Öle Gefahr laufen zu schnell auszutrocknen, selbst wenn man es luftdicht verpackt in einer Dose aufbewahrt.
Nun gut, dann werde ich doch gleich mal die Medizin für heute Abend herrichten und später dann das Ganze mehr oder weniger in Luft aufzulösen ....
