This is hilarious in that the leader of the National Party in Australia is, in actual fact, a member of the Liberal Party and is only ā€˜affiliatedā€™ with the Nats.

Does this explain the steady shift to the right by the Liberal Party in the last forty years?

We'll soon see the back of #Sussan and #NukedTed as there is a #LibSpill as a result of the #LibNatBreakup and a new party room vote.

Probably post 1 July when the new senate arrives, with a few Sussan votes departing on June 30.

That will swing the #Libs further to the right, so they'll be closer to the #nats but both will be damaged by the #LibNatBreakup. Sure, they'll have sloppy sex with the ex in the Prayer room, before attempting a trial reconciliation, but they're a spent force.

No it hasnā€™t youā€™re right. That is why ditching the #Nats would be an astute move at the federal level. It may spur whatā€™s left of sentient liberals to see the light, restore liberal values in their party policies, hopefully spend a couple of decades in opposition and bring sanity back into Parliament. Who knowsā€¦? In any case, the #Libs staying in coalition with the #Nats is doing a dodo, whatever they might think.

Four Independents I would lump as progressive #Libs
Two in the #National Party box
Three standing for #progressive social policies
(Iā€™ll let you guess which candidate Iā€™ve pidgeon holed in the above boxes)

3 out of 13 says all there is to say about politics in regional Australia. We just gotta do better folks or weā€™ll be voting idiots in forever.

Summary is I can only vote for three of them with conviction. The remainder will all have to fight for the last place on my ballot (the Libertarian ONLEY is running favourite for that honour)
