#hashcat was doing around 40 hashes per second when cracking bcrypt/blowish hashes (cost 10/12) and when running directly on the #M2Pro #Mac using #Metal, and while that was running the computer was very slow and I couldn't do anything else at the same time. 1/2

A bit disappointed by the performance of the #GPU in my #M2Pro mini with #hashcat. Quite slow actually. #AppleSilicon #infosec

My office #iMac arrived the other day. 🎉 It’s an impressive machine in almost every way. Feels a little bit faster for everyday tasks than even my #M2Pro #MacBook, though slower for anything CPU-intensive, which is what you’d expect.

In fact my only minor complaint is that you have to tilt the display to get the right framing for video capture. Other than that it’s darn near perfect. Plus it looks 🤩. #Apple

recently i have complained about the preview in #lightroom turning black until the cursor moves (or it takes a few seconds or glitches until it reveals the current content) – i have since realized that affinity photo is affected as well, althrough not as bad. are there some #apple #m2pro #m2 owners who know something on the issue? i am not sure how to look it up right now, this is quite frustrating...

This wouldn’t be surprising since the #M3Pro has two fewer performance cores and less memory bandwidth than the equivalent M2 model. But the M3’s performance and efficiency cores are 15% and 30% faster, respectively, so everyday performance should still be improved. Während meiner Recherche zum besten Preis eines #MacBookPro mit #M1Pro aus 2021 als Alternative zu einem aktuellen #MacBookAir mit #M2 Prozessor stellte ich fest, dass Apple im #refurbished Portal den besten Preis listet, was schonmal nice ist. Der eigentliche Hammer ist jedoch, dass Otto das #MacBookPo mit #M2Pro in gleicher Ausstattung sogar günstiger anbietet, als Apple den refurbisheden Vorgänger. Im Moment muss man bei geplanten Anschaffungen echt aufpassen.
