A small, single-engine propeller airplane with a white body and red accents on the tail and rear fuselage flies low over a densely forested landscape. The aircraft is angled slightly upward, suggesting it is either climbing or maintaining steady flight. The registration D-MJXY is visible on the side of the fuselage.

Below the plane, a vast expanse of green forest stretches out, broken occasionally by clearings, fields, and patches of farmland. A long, straight runway from a former airport is visible through the forest, running parallel to the planes flight path. The horizon reveals a mix of flat terrain and distant fields, with the sky above mostly clear, dotted with scattered clouds. The scene conveys a sense of open space and natural landscape, with the airplane as the only visible sign of human activity. The cockpit dashboard of a Cessna aircraft shows a clear view of the instrument panel and the runway ahead. The central panel includes an airspeed indicator reading 55 knots, an attitude indicator showing the aircraft level, an altimeter, a turn coordinator, a heading indicator, and a vertical speed indicator. Two radio stacks display frequencies 132.650, 124.850, 110.50, and 113.90. The aircraft registration D-MJXY is visible above the center console. Outside, the runway stretches straight ahead, flanked by green fields and clusters of trees under a partly cloudy sky. The scene suggests the aircraft is either preparing for takeoff or in the early stages of landing.A small white and red single-engine propeller aircraft flies just above a narrow, straight concrete runway. The plane is slightly banked, suggesting it is taking off. The runway cuts through a dense, green forest that extends into the distance, with patches of open fields and clusters of trees visible on either side. The sky above is mostly clear, dotted with scattered clouds, and the landscape below appears flat and expansive, giving a sense of openness and natural surroundings. The cockpit of a Cessna aircraft shows the instrument panel with the registration D-MJXY visible. The airspeed indicator reads approximately 90 knots, and the altimeter, vertical speed indicator, heading indicator, and turn coordinator are clearly visible. Outside the windshield, a large, dome-shaped industrial structure sits amidst a forested landscape. The sky is partly cloudy, with patches of blue visible. The aircraft appears to be in level flight, passing near the structure, which stands out due to its size and metallic appearance. The surrounding area is dense with green forest, interspersed with clearings and fields. The horizon shows a mix of flat terrain and distant tree lines.

Savannah/Hilton Head International KSAV → Jacksonville Executive KCRG

After a brief stop in Georgia, I’ve now arrived in Florida. The weather was perfect: endless blue skies stretched as far as the eye could see, a fitting welcome to the Sunshine State. The only minor challenge was the wind at lower altitudes, which was a bit strong again.

A small twin-engine private jet with a white fuselage, dark blue tail, and red accent stripe is in flight, positioned slightly left of center. The aircraft flies low, its nose angled slightly upward, suggesting steady navigation. It moves across a vast landscape defined by a complex network of winding rivers that reflect sunlight into a bright, shimmering ribbon. The sky is clear and deep blue, with the sun high in the sky creating a pronounced lens flare. Below, the terrain is predominantly brown and arid, interspersed with clusters of green vegetation, while distant horizons blend into a hazy line. The plane’s tail displays the letters TMC in dark text against the light background. The scene depicts a serene aerial journey over a delta-like region under a bright, clear day.A small airplane with a white fuselage, dark tail, and extended landing gear is descending toward a coastal area. Below, a long sandy beach curves along the edge of a deep blue ocean, bordered by dense green forests and scattered residential neighborhoods. The landscape features numerous small lakes and winding waterways, with flat terrain extending into the distance under a clear, bright blue sky. The aircraft is positioned centrally above the coastline, with its landing gear lowered, indicating preparation for landing near the populated shoreline. The scene captures a smooth approach to land over a mix of natural and developed areas, with the ocean on one side and the horizon visible under a cloudless sky. The terrain below includes patches of developed land, forested regions, and small bodies of water, all under a vast expanse of clear blue sky.A small white single-engine airplane flies low over a coastal landscape. Below, a sandy beach curves along the ocean’s edge, bordered by a strip of residential neighborhoods with red-tiled roofs. To the left, dense green forests and scattered waterways, including a winding river, stretch toward the horizon. Interconnected roads and patches of developed land with houses and parks are visible. In the distance, the ocean meets the sky under a clear blue atmosphere. The scene captures a sunny day with the plane positioned centrally, moving over a mix of natural and human-made environments.Inside an aircraft cockpit, the main display panels show active flight instruments and navigation data. Three primary screens dominate the panel: the left screen features an attitude indicator with a heading of 319 degrees, a glide slope indicator, and altitude information; the central screen displays a map with green terrain, blue water bodies, and navigation details including Approach - KCRG-ILS-32 and Active Nav; the right screen mirrors the left with similar metrics. Knobs and switches on the panel are labeled with functions like HDG, ALT SEL, CRS, and D-MJXY is visible near the top. Outside the cockpit, the windshield reveals a clear view of a landscape with suburban residential areas, industrial buildings, a large runway, and multiple bodies of water under a bright sky. The aircraft is approaching a landing, as indicated by the navigation data and runway alignment.

Charleston International KCHS → Savannah/Hilton Head International KSAV

Early in the morning, before sunrise, I set off for the next leg, again in the King Air 350i. The ILS approach to Runway 01 in Savannah is quite exciting because here a DME arc with a 14 nm radius is flown: A first for me and I had to do it twice (cockpit image below is from the first, not successful try ;-))

A few more miles along the coast in the King Air 350. This plane is so much fun! The weather is exciting these days, I'm observing some pretty gusty winds. The autopilot doesn't mind, but I definitely break a sweat sometimes during the landings.

A twin-engine propeller airplane, predominantly white with a dark stripe and red accent line along the fuselage, is positioned on a paved runway. Both propellers are actively spinning, creating visible motion blur effects, and the aircraft's landing gear is deployed on the tarmac. The runway features alternating dark gray and white striped markings that extend into the distance. Beyond the runway, a flat landscape stretches out with dense green trees under a clear blue sky. To the right, a tall electricity pylon and a low-lying industrial building are visible, while the left side shows open fields and distant utility structures. The aircraft's navigation lights are illuminated, suggesting active preparation for takeoff under bright daylight conditions.A private jet is in flight, its dark winglet prominently marked with “350i” in large white letters. The aircraft’s fuselage combines white and dark gray, featuring a row of small circular windows along the side, with a propeller visible on the left wing. The jet glides above a dense layer of fluffy white clouds, with glimpses of the earth’s surface below—including land and water formations—visible through gaps in the cloud cover. The sky is a clear, vibrant blue, with the sun shining brightly in the upper left corner, producing distinct lens flares that enhance the scene’s brightness. The plane moves smoothly, its polished exterior catching sunlight, while the tail displays a red stylized logo adding a distinctive visual element. The context of the scene shows calm, sunny high-altitude travel, with the jet cutting through the atmosphere against a backdrop of serene sky and cloud layers. Below, the earth’s surface is partially visible, suggesting a mix of terrain and possibly water bodies. The overall impression is one of stable motion under a bright, cloudless sky.A white twin-engine jet airplane with dark engine pods and a red tail stripe is flying at low altitude, positioned centrally in the frame. It is in the process of descending for landing. Below the aircraft, multiple parallel railway tracks stretch across the scene, some carrying freight trains. Adjacent to the tracks, industrial structures—including large warehouses, low buildings, and paved lots—are interspersed with clusters of trees and small water bodies. The landscape extends into the distance, featuring more urban development, open fields, and a faint haze under a clear blue sky. The sun's position suggests early morning or late afternoon, casting a warm glow and long shadows over the terrain. The environment combines urban industrial areas with natural elements like vegetation and ponds, creating a mix of built and natural features.A twin-engine turboprop aircraft descends toward a runway with its landing gear extended and propellers spinning rapidly, creating subtle motion blur. The plane is centered above a paved runway marked by continuous yellow centerline dashes and crosswalk markings. Flanking the runway are expansive grassy fields that transition into a tree-lined horizon under a clear blue sky with faint, wispy clouds near the horizon. Beyond the runway, the airport features distant taxiways, small structures, and low-lying buildings, all illuminated by bright daylight. The scene captures a smooth landing approach with excellent visibility, calm weather, and minimal turbulence, emphasizing the aircraft’s steady descent toward the paved surface.

Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue KNJM → Cape Fear Regional KSUT

It’s been a while since I last flew the King Air 350, and I thought today would be a good opportunity. It’s loud, but it flies like a dream. “Time flew by” (get this?) and the ground had me back in no time.

A small twin-engine propeller aircraft with a white fuselage and red accents on its tail is in flight, its propellers spinning as it glides above a coastal landscape. The plane is centered in the image, positioned above a narrow strip of land that extends into the distance, bordered by water on both sides. To the right, the coastline forms a thin, light-colored line separating the landmass from a vast expanse of deep blue water stretching toward the horizon. On the left, a larger body of water contains small islands and a bridge connecting two landmasses. Below the plane, the coastal land is densely developed with buildings, roads, and patches of greenery, while a highway runs parallel to the shore. The sky above is a clear blue with scattered wispy clouds, and a layer of low-lying haze or fog obscures distant terrain, creating a soft boundary between the sky and the land. The scene conveys a calm, clear day with good visibility, emphasizing the aircraft’s smooth flight above the expansive water and coastal development.A twin-engine turboprop aircraft is airborne under a bright sun, its light gray fuselage accented with dark blue and white panels near the tail. The registration D-MJXY is prominently displayed on the forward section, while the tail features a bold red design with black elements. Both propeller engines mounted under the wings are in motion, suggesting active flight. The plane is angled slightly upward, appearing to climb or bank. The backdrop consists of a clear, deep blue sky with the sun shining intensely near the upper right, casting lens flares and a gentle glow. Below, a layer of fluffy white clouds sits just above the horizon, with a distant landmass partially visible through the cloud cover. The overall scene depicts a smooth flight at high altitude on a clear day.A white twin-engine aircraft with dark engines and winglets is in flight, viewed from behind. The aircraft’s tail features a red accent. Below, a winding blue river snakes through a landscape of dense green forests, brown agricultural fields, and scattered residential and industrial areas. The river meanders past clusters of houses, roads, and open farmland, while distant horizons show more terrain under a bright sky with wispy clouds. The scene captures a blend of natural and developed land under clear weather conditions.A white twin-engine propeller airplane, marked by a red tail fin, flies steadily above a vast expanse of deep blue water. Landing gear is dropped and landing lights are on, indication the plane is on final approach. Its propellers spin actively, indicating motion as it glides through the air. Below, a winding waterway cuts through a landscape of green forests, brown earthy patches, and scattered small islands, some covered in dense vegetation while others show exposed terrain. To the right, a larger landmass features clusters of urban development, winding roads, and mixed greenery. In the distance, the horizon blends into a clear blue sky with a delicate layer of wispy clouds. The scene is bright and sunlit, highlighting the contrast between the aircraft's smooth flight and the expansive natural and built environment beneath it, with the open sea stretching toward the horizon.

Billy Mitchell KHSE → Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue KNJM

I traveled south along North Carolina’s coast with the TBM. Long stretches of sandy beaches and strong wind gusts stood out as the most striking features of this brief journey.

A small single-engine propeller airplane with a white fuselage and dark wings flies shortly after takeoff low over a body of water near a narrow shoreline. The aircraft is positioned just above the water's surface, moving parallel to the coast. Below, the shoreline features a sandy beach bordered by a cluster of houses with varied roof colors, including blue and dark tones, interspersed with trees and open land. Beyond the houses, a dense forest area stretches toward the horizon. The water extends into the distance, merging with a thick layer of fog that obscures the sky and creates a muted, overcast atmosphere. The fog blankets the entire scene, reducing visibility and lending a soft, grayish haze to the landscape. The airplane appears to be on a low - altitude flight path, likely approaching or departing from a nearby landing area. The overall setting is a calm, coastal environment under foggy conditions.A small single-engine propeller aircraft flies above a thick layer of white clouds. The plane, primarily white with a dark tail section, is centered horizontally. The sun shines directly behind the aircraft’s right wing, producing a bright glare that illuminates the barely visible water layer below and casts a distinct shimmering reflection on the surface. Above the cloud deck, the sky is a clear, deep blue with no visible haze. The aircraft is in steady flight, its propeller motion implied but not visible. The cloud layer spans the entire scene horizontally, with no other objects, highlighting the plane’s solitary position against the open sky. The overall scene conveys a serene flight above a vast cloud sea under a clear sky.A small single-engine airplane with a white fuselage and red tail section is in flight, positioned toward the right side of the frame. It appears to be descending or approaching an airport situated on a narrow coastal landmass. The aircraft is above a light-colored sandy beach that runs parallel to the dark blue ocean, where sunlight reflects off the water’s surface, creating a bright pathway of light. The ocean extends to the horizon, with scattered white clouds floating in the clear blue sky above. To the left of the aircraft, the ocean is partially covered by low-lying clouds, while to the right, the water remains deep blue and open. The coastal landmass features a mix of dark green forested areas, brownish terrain, and a visible paved runway near the beach, with smaller clusters of buildings indicating a populated area. In the distance, small islands and rocky outcrops are visible along the coastline, adding geographic detail. The overall scene conveys a calm, sunny day with the aircraft navigating near the coastal region.A single-engine turboprop airplane flies steadily in the sky, landing gear extended, suggesting an approach to land. The aircraft is centered in the frame, viewed from the rear, with wings level and a tail fin visible. Above, the sun shines brightly, casting a clear blue sky with subtle lens flares from the light. Below, the terrain features rolling fields in varying shades of green and brown, interspersed with dense forest areas. A faint haze hovers near the horizon, blending into the distant landscape that includes scattered buildings and winding roads. The scene depicts a serene daytime flight over a rural region, with the aircraft maintaining a stable altitude against the backdrop of open sky and earthy terrain.
