I actually bought Dispatch last weekend because it was erroneously tagged “LGBT+” on Steam while looking for games similar to Boyfriend Dungeon. The whole thing was a rabbit hole: turns out getting assigned “LGBT+” tags by users is a tactic that homophobic users use to sink games by giving them “adult” tags that don’t apply (since homophobes consider even the most innocuous LGBT+ related media to be hardcore pornography). After talking about it with a friend, we found out he bought Dispatch for the exact same reason as me, thinking it was LGBT+ narrative game similar to a dating sim. (Steam has since removed the tag for me, I tried to get a screenshot of it later.)

Turns out Dispatch was fun despite the fairly standard heterosexual romance plots, so I wasn’t too bothered.

All in all: interesting post.

Beim kurzen erzählerischen Rätselspiel „A Normal Lost Phone" findet man ein Smartphone und erschließt sich durch das Lesen der darauf zu findenden Inhalte die Geschichte bzw. einen Ausschnitt aus dem Leben der Person, der das Telefon eigentlich gehört.

Sprachlich ist das Spiel überzeugend gemacht, die Dialoge lesen sich recht authentisch, lediglich manche Forumsinhalte wirken im Ton vielleicht etwas zu aufklärerisch, was aber angesichts des Anliegens des Spiels nachvollziehbar ist. Schön fand ich, dass die sehr gute Lokalisierung sich nicht nur auf die Dialoge, sondern auch auf die Bildinhalte erstreckt.

Es gibt viel zu lesen und nur ein paar Rätselstellen, für deren Lösung man aber teilweise gut aufgepasst haben, sich an Details erinnern und durchaus etwas nachdenken muss. Ich fand es eine interessante, erhellende und emotionale Geschichte, für die ich gerne die ca. 2 bis 2,5 Stunden Spielzeit investiert habe.
