Toca donación del mes. Es algo que me hago todos los meses aunque no lo publique aquí. Suelo hacerlo a proyectos como instancias de Mastodon u otros proyectos personales, pero también a «gigantes» como éste caso.

Ha tocado al proyecto Open Broadcaster Software, más conocido como OBS Studio. Mis palabras no estarían a la altura de éste excelente programa que nos permite grabar y emitir en directo nuestro escritorio, nuestras partidas, nuestras charlas… o conectar cualquier consola y hacer lo mismo, por ejemplo….

Sí le tengo un pequeño reproche. Los usuarios de Wayland en GNU7Linux , por el momento, estamos un poco «abandonados». Muchas de las características que tiene el programa en Windows o incluso en el compositor de gnu/linux x11, no están disponibles para usuarios de Wayland.
Comprensible, ya que el compositor se acaba de adaptar en la mayoría de distribuciones, alguna todavía no completamente, y se supone que se adaptarán rápido cuando sea una realidad en un futuro inmediato.

Long story short... I was able to get the obs studio virtual camera working with FreeBSD.

The long story is that after trying OBS-Studio on FreeBSD, I immediately notice the virtual camera was not available. I did some research, and the issue was solved in the past but for whatever reason patch that enabled the virtual camera was removed from the port tree. I file a bug in FreeBSD bugzilla, and also email the maintainer of the port with the bug information.

To my surprise the maintainer responded my email and patch OBS-Studio. Now virtual camera is available for everyone using FreeBSD. 🙂

This is how you make it work.

1.Using your terminal navigate to obs-studio port directory.
2. run "make config" and uncheck the browser option and hit enter.
3. run "make install clean"
4. run "webcamd -c v4l2loopback"
5.start obs-studio (The virtual cam button should be present now)
6. Start virtual camera.

There seem like a lot of changes to the build instructions for obs-studio in the recent major version release. 

A list of changes that I needed to make in the SBO current SlackBuild:

1. CEF_ROOT directory changes to cef_binary_6533_linux_x86_64.
2. The CDN URL for CEF uses xz rather than bz2.
3. The Cmake option -DBUILD_BROWSER is now -DENABLE_BROWSER.
4. New dependencies:
   1. libdatachannel
      1. usrsctp
      2. libsrtp2
      3. plog
      4. libjuice
   2. The C++ bindings for qrcodegen as "qrcodegencpp". This library does not have any packaging for it so I ended up ignoring this dependency by setting the Cmake option -DENABLE_WEBSOCKET=OFF. I don’t think I used websocket support anyway. Hope I don't need it because this is annoying dependency.
