I believe it is one of our missions, as antifascist nerds, to break the myth of an inaccessible and complex technology. The tools, services, and software we all use everyday are the more or less indirect outcome of broader socio-political and economical dynamics. Therefore, we can and we should bring forward a massive resistance as we do on other fronts.

How do we do burst the bubble?

How can we practically unmask the politicality of technology to people outside the digital sector?

How do we popularize digital media critique?

What forms of art, workshops, and formats could take advantage of?

On Wed 11 June, at 14:00 UTC, I will be hosting an online round-table session with @transparenttech to discuss and try to answer these questions.

I will be briefly sharing my experience and my ideas after making Knitting Our Internet. Above all, though, I want to welcome any kind of contributions to address this mission in a multifaceted, intercultural, intersectional, and decolonial way.

Today is the International Open Hackerspace Day! 👾

I didn’t know about this (thank you for sharing your discovery, @liaizon), but it’s a wonderful coincidence that this very day at 15:00 I’ll be hosting Knitting Our Internet at the newly open SCIFT Makespace! The workshop will most probably be in Italian, but we’ll be open to switch to English if non-Italian speakers are coming.

La Nostra Rete è un viaggio interattivo nella storia di Internet e un ripensamento collettivo del suo futuro.

L’attività consiste in un laboratorio in presenza che dà esempi semplici e tangibili di come funziona Internet, mettendo in questione i fondamenti tecnici su cui si basano i social media mainstream di oggi. Il suo obiettivo principale è smascherare i problemi del capitalismo della sorveglianza, della centralizzazione e il loro impatto ambientale.

Dopo aver riconosciuto le sfide digitali che dobbiamo affrontare, le persone partecipanti sono incoraggiate a reinterpretare i social network partendo dalla decentralizzazione e immaginando futuri digitali più umani, corali e partecipativi.

I created my first #zine!

Its title is Knitting Our Internet, and it is quite messy and ugly, but I consider it the essence of what I have been studying/working on for the past couple of years.

I am very grateful to @zelf, who hosted the zine making workshop at #p4p, stimulating me to create this.

I am thinking non-stop about next steps. For sure I will be creating a website for the homonymous workshop I have been hosting in many different occasions.

Then maybe a little story/novel about the history of the #Internet and the current #DWeb, #hacking, #FreeSoftware movements?
