Anyone if there's a good way to sync passwordstore (pass) between linux desktop and android over cable?
I'm willing to consider other apps, but only if the CLI is as well designed as pass, is well supported and typically functions well completely disconnected. And good sync support.

It's a recent fork of the original Android Password Store, which hasn't seen new releases since 2021.
However, this new app isn't in Google Play Store. Furthermore, instead of using OpenKeyChain, it wants to import a copy of the private #PGP key from a file (or generate a new one).
I'm very reluctant to copy my private key into multiple apps, it's poor key management practice. Why this change?? 🤨

It was a hell of few weeks, first I have migrated all domains from #GoDaddy and then #proton upset me with its “political neutrality”, so I have evaluated my possibilities, VPN migrated to #ivpn, pass migrated to self-hosted #git (#gitolite3 ) with combination with Linux #pass (#PasswordStore) it has apps for mobile and browser integrations. And the emails I have migrated to #tuta (#tutamail). This happens when you piss your customers. #Privacy
There's a FOSS iOS client for unix pass - https://github.com/mssun/passforios but without something like open-keychain of Android its useless as I'm not handing over my GPG keys directly.
What are iOS users who self-host password server using? Bitwarden?
Am I missing something obvious, or does password-store really not offer a simple way to print the first line of a password file?
I want to use it as input for "restic --password-command", and now I have to do stuff like:
restic --password-command 'sh -c "pass show backup-myhost | head -n 1"'
with an ungodly amount of quoting. And then do the same again for RCLONE_PASSWORD_COMMAND.
Is there really no shortcut for this use case?
I've been using #PasswordStore for a few years now, but the Android client has been abandon and is failing to fill logins. Looking for alternatives, I thought to use @nextcloud Password application, but I needed to transfer passwords. So I created a command line tool in #Python for the Nextcloud Password app so I was able to migrate, delete duplicate (because I screwed up during migration) and been able to query quickly for a password from my computer. https://repos.susurrando.com/adelgado/nc_password_client

Seriously, #pass is the best option. Battle tested security with #GnuPG, designed by the #WireGuard guy and allowing distributed multiple copies with #git without DB conflicts like the other tools...

If you're already familiar with #PasswordStore, the #QTPass interface is quite functional. My close family members are using it for years now.
Considering to change my #backup solution from #duplicity to #restic (Not sure yet, I *like* having #pgp keys for encryption, but it's not like a long password stored in #PasswordStore wouldn't cut it). Since restic supports Windows I might try moving a couple relatives onto it; Makes helping them easier if I know the software. For them however, a #GUI is likely a MUST, but what I've found so far is not too encouraging: restatic (dead), npbackup ("metrics" and other assorted niggles), resticguigx (Electron), backrest (browser-based, which makes my skin crawl for security tooling)... Does anyone know other options I missed? Or has some compelling arguments for those I mentioned?

Do you know of a good way to store files in the "pass" password manager? I have a few "key files" (like the .pfx certificate for the Elster website) that I'd like to add to the password manager. Is there a way to store those files and still have easy access to the decrypted files e.g. from Firefox? Like, is there a tool to present the decrypted files as a mountpoint under Linux, so that I can use them from any application?
@itsfoss I am happy with #PasswordStore which works in Android together with #OpenKeyChain based on #PGP / #GnuPG. You can sync with your computer either using git (i used a local git at my pc or alternatively with a folder in your mobile and then, using #syncthing). When I need to check in the pc I just use #emacs to open the gpg file. I am happy with this solution as it relies in gpg and it does need no private clouds. So far I only miss token integration (I should check whether is possible)

PSA: if you create a .gpg-id file for password-store that should also work with Android-Password-Store:
- do not use an exclamation mark at the end of the key id
- do use a 16-digit key id (instead of a shorter one)
- do add a newline at the end of the file
- do not give up just because it doesn't work, but keep fiddling...
