Aurora Borealis People talked about Seeing this special event An event she missed She could only see it in pictures Her heart was already broken But she felt the pieces ache more With her shortened life expectancy She knew She knew that she'll never Get to experience this event.

"Swept Away"

My sympathies are with the people affected by Helene and her aftermath.

Swept Away A storm came through And she wondered as to how She’d deal with it People have questions Wondering why they didn’t leave She didn’t know what it was like But she knew she wouldn’t have fended No, she’d likely be as terrified as everyone else In a storm that showed no mercy She’s seen much of the aftermath shared And the aftermath not shared It looked apocalyptic She could only picture the terror Feeling it as though it were her own She couldn’t be curious No, she didn’t need to wonder She felt the terrorTerror as the storm pummeled them Like an angry goddess And she could feel the shock She’d wonder if she would have evacuated if she could Or if she’d be paralyzed with fear She felt for the people she knew And the people she didn’t know She felt for those who could evacuate And she felt just as much for those who’re lost The storm came without mercy And the aftermath was devastating She didn’t know how she’d deal with it She’d never know.

"Boundaries"

This my word of the day and I feel so much guilt.

Boundaries. She felt guilt Guilt for this word It felt like an ugly word But it wasn't an ugly word No, that was her guilt talking She had these And she'd make a point to enforce them Damn everything else However, it wasn't that simple No, she would become small and quiet Stomped on like a mouse When she tried Within, she was screaming Berating herself for not having the strength To put her foot down She wanted to lash out It's instinctive to lash out However, it was just as instinctive To remain a quiet mouse (trauma response) They wondered why she seemed distant Or so upset with them She had her peace to protect And she didn't want to spiral—again (as such would be worse) This word felt ugly It wasn't an ugly word Yet, her guilt made it sting She questioned her reasonings She's oft conflicted about such matters But she knew that some need these And hers have been stomped on No wonder she seemed so distant No, she didn't have this word She started to be more closed off Rather, more so than what she was initially They've earned that She didn't have this word No, she just built up walls Built them up and further reinforced them She felt guilt but such is existence They disregarded her feelings so much That she suppressed her own Abandoning herself They didn't respect this word when she used them Yet, they noticed her walls If being closed off is how she can protect her peace Then so be it —Amoridere, comp 4/13/2024

Something just died. I wrote this while thinking about work and, in working this job that I do, my opinions are thus.

As far as I can tell you, crisis lines are woefully ineffective. I'd go into more details but I won't, although, I will say is that, if you're in a vulnerable state, give your local peer-support lines a call, instead of crisis lines.
