Big AI Beware: Bounty Hunters Are Coming To Track Down Misuse Of Hollywood IP

With the terminal rendering code on hand I just had to try my hand at rendering a Mandelbrot set. Love fractals. ❤️ #fractal #fractals #asciiart #rendering #graphics

A fractal coloured in vivid rainbow (HSL). Drawing using block ascii art in a terminal.

This might be a bit niche, but here's my Shadertoy SDF approximation (pure shader code, no mesh or texture is used) of Keenan Crane's "Spot" cow model:

Code is MIT licensed and is also in GitHub just in case it is useful to anyone else:

A Deep Dive into ASCII Image Rendering
Via Kottke on Mastodon.* Alex Harri wrote an image-to-ASCII renderer that can translate generated 3D models in realtime, and on this page they explain how it works and some of the finer points of that conversion, specifically how not to make the rendered images seem blurry, instead giving edges clean outlines. It's

Why oh why does VSCode on Linux manage to render these two + signs so differently?

And the differences are even different depending on the surrounding code, or the indentation level, or whatnot. It's not always the same.

#vscode #fonts #linux #rendering #ugh

Screenshot of VSCode, reading "ize; a++, cp"

The two + signs are slightly different, making it appear as if they're ever so slightly rotated towards each other.

#test

Source: Lossless 1280x720 30fps, hq3d denoise, size 6.2gb, runtime 3:12

Output target 6000kbps 80mb pre-upload & 3000kbps 40mb post-upload

Output runtime automatically stopped at 1:47 ~78mb, final frame freezes at last keyframe: 1:45

Mosquitoing & some colorblocking but not bad for complex video, might lower that next time, try to get more time out of it, maybe reduce artifacts

More useless AB testing to come, if you want my script just ask, I'll post to mastodon

Trying a different environment map with an old Shadertoy shader that I wrote...
Environment is San Giuseppe Bridge in Venice, from Poly Haven.
Shader is here: shadertoy.com/view/ddsyD8
