Just watched The Thing.
A damn good film.
I'm no believer in aliens, but that aside it was pretty believable, Americans not trusting each other, running around with weapons annihilating themselves. Ending in a burning environment surrounded with no escape and an implied certain doom.
Nowhere near as terrifying as the last time I saw it, luckily. That was when it came out to rent on video and I was about 8.

So, after decades of periodically rewatching John Carpenter's 'The Thing', I just savoured the 4K Universal disc.
Here's the surprise: Along with seeing so much more detail and colour, I finally *really* understood the ending, which few people seem to understand.
It is sinister and devious, and director John Carpenter hinted at it in an interview, so I at last have surety. Truly a perfect ending.
