vaccinating within a family protects other family members who might be too young to get #immunizations or whose immune systems are compromised, creating walls of protection to prevent spread of communicable diseases

that's wonderful! I know @pediatricskc was doing a lot to organize the former #tweetiatricians group here. I can't remember the official name, but I know #MedMastodon has also been a rallying group.

I haven't been quite as active here as I was on Twitter, but with the new #threads app, I'm seeing more activity there, including the official American Academy of Pediatrics and HealthyChildren.org accounts, so quite possible that might end up popular for Peds to organize

In the space of about 12 hours today, I read two achingly beautiful, heartbreaking accounts about the loss of a young child from two different physicians.

We often ask "What if it were your child?" during times when children are hurt, killed or terrorized

Last night, as has happened EVERY year, children, families & worshippers at #AlAqsa mosque were attacked during prayers in th most holy month of #Ramadan for #Muslims & a #medical #clinic was destroyed-now unable to provide #healthcare

Press coverage is nearly nonexistent, outcry is minimal.

Why?

I have learned to adjust my calming end of the day reflection from

“Tomorrow will be better”

to

“Tomorrow might be just as difficult, but tonight is for recovery to be able to face the challenges tomorrow, God willing"

I think it helps to be realistic with expectations, but also to maintain resilience when situations cannot be controlled.
