@palemoon
I am suprised and absolutely delighted to find out only now that palemoon also supports gopher, unlike most (if not all) other more common browsers. Thanks for having this feature!

@gaufff
Are the required langpack extension packages installed and activated in each user's mozilla profile folder? If yes, then Firefox should be able to automatically discern the language to use based on the user's $LOCALE settings.
For #wmlive, this was solved by supplying preconfigured mozilla extension configurations, which are automatically personalized for each user during account creation. See the content of package wmlive-base at wmlive.rumbero.org/repo/pool/m .

@dantheta That's the default theme of #wmlive as can be seen in the screenshots at wmlive.sourceforge.net .

There used to be a video demonstration of #wmlive at wmlive.sourceforge.net but no more. The video hosting company #Vimeo started to impose age verification by acquiring biometric data of a face scan via smartphone camera. So i decided to terminate relations and had them delete my account. 1/2

In the long run, i expect to be fully shut out from all these modern technical facilities turning our shared reality into a high tech prison.

I can't ever consent to such blatant tech vigilance measures.

In context of the #wmlive project, updated gtk2 based #palemoon 34.0.1 debian packages for i386, amd64, and arm64 have been made available here:

wmlive.rumbero.org/repo/pool/m

The packages using the minor distribution version 0wmlive0 are for bookworm, and those with minor distribution version 0wmlive1 are for trixie.

Thanks for creating the #palemoon browser!

An new #wmlive version matching Debian/Trixie point release 13.3 has been made available, this time without any donation requirements.

Check it out at wmlive.sourceforge.net

The former requirement for a donation has been dropped as it didn't generate any sufficient increase in donations, and rather resulted in wasting even more time with donator access management.

My 9 year old thinks Window Maker (specifically the dockapps) is the coolest looking interface so I'm obliged to make it my primary desktop once again, now, in the year 2026 CE. FWIW, I first used Window Maker in 1998. #wmlive #windowmaker #xorg #openbsd #linux

The builds are based on libsdl3 version 3.2.10 as offered in Debian/Trixie, which is the target release these packages have been built for.
As usual, packages for i386, amd64, and arm64 have been provided.

There will be no further builds for Debian/Bookworm, as it doesn't include any libsdl3 support packages.

@distrowatch
This more or less sums up the main motivation for the #wmlive project.
It tries to preserve well matured technology, that has proven to work over many years, while trying to sparingly integrate newer elements, but without falling for any hype trends. Practical capabilities in computing are not software features, but a reflection of the intellect and mind creating and using them. Being both conservative and innovative at the same time is the best way forward.

Given IBM/Redhat's focus on big business customers, the interest in supporting vintage hardware platforms and associated operating systems is probably only an afterthought nowadays.
For the m68k platform, the very best NeXT hardware emulator is 'previous'. Works really great on sufficiently fast host computers, be it x86_64 or aarch64. See previous.nextcommunity.net (yes, no https available) for further details.
#wmlive includes previous as part of the base system.

Just verified the current #wmlive version for arm64 boots just fine on a #PinebookPro, thanks to #towboot enabling UEFI booting. This also includes the graphical #Debian installer, so no more fiddling with the serial console.

The #wmlive distribution based on current #Debian includes a few custom graphical tools that were relatively easy to create by combining bash shell scripting with the gtk2 version of #yad. For example, this graphical frontend for the dpigs command is actually just a shell script.
