I build stuff with open source hardware / hobby electronics. Arduino, raspberry pi, circuitpython, etc.

Well, there's some good news.
Four years after her passing ,the Nichelle Nichols Space Camp for girls 14-18 will open next year in Huntsville, Alabama.
Lt. Uhura will live on to inspire a new generation of space explorers.

Clear-screen translation system is being tested at Tokyo’s Haneda
Japan Airlines and Toppan said Tuesday that they have begun at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport a demonstration test of the clear-screen translation system developed by the printing company. The sy…

"If you're concerned about microplastics this is the wrong hobby for you."
On the contrary, I'll be EXTRA LOUD about responsible #3Dprinting practices!
Recycle your fucking shit. Use strong dust collectors when sanding. Try pure PHA filament. Repair and upgrade your printer instead of buying new (I can print fucking ASA-CF on an almost 8 year old i3 Mega, with upgrades that can be printed on itself). And stop printing useless garbage just because you can. Be a god damn responsible human being.
All right y'all, the first version of Local News TV including feeds from about 200 TV stations in the US. More to come, but I wanted to get a first list.

@M4x the green printed part next to the metal thermos might explain this better. the septh and width of the thermos internals forces you to pour out the contents, which i'm not a fan of. that can be a requirement if you need to access the contents while traveling.
I don't think any ground should ever be ceded to the notion that so-called "ai" makes people "more productive" without a thorough questioning of a) what "productivity" means and b) what is being "produced". If I'm "more productive" at churning out garbage that nobody needs or wants, then what's the fucking point. You might as well argue that laxatives make me "more productive" at blasting turds down the shitter. Fuck off.
#Freecad Friday's print is a sleeve I had to design myself for a medication thermos. Over the last ~30+ years, personal medication transport hasn't improved all that much to me. This TPU sleeve is going to keep glass bottles from getting rattled around between an ice pack and a metal interior thermos wall. I'll put this on printables in case anybody else can use this. #3dprinting
I've been able to confirm sound works, after securing the 3 male pins in the mx wire connector.
I'm still thinking about how to connect to the D+ and D- pads on the underside of the board. they're so small and close together that pogo pins aren't really viable. I'm thinking a weirdly bent @arturo182 flexypin might work to reach up from the underside, but i'll need to figure out some method that'll let me test multiple pin / wire / solder blob options.
@streetcoder @itsfoss this realm is starting to get crowded. 2x8000mah batteries for 7 hours feels bad, man. i'm very concerned about a design having so many input methods:
keyboard
trackball
scroll wheel
analog stick
touch screen
Some say #retrocomputing is a form of escapism...
Considering it's a generally upbeat and authentic community (or scene) in an otherwise money-driven and superficial technology world, I'd say that's a compliment, isn't it?
It's nice that there are still corners in computing where you can hear someone say they're excited by something and take it at face value.
Also, that there are still corners in computing free from corporations. Because, well... they're all defunct.
@transcendentempress Nebula. the lines are smooth and everything's so compact
