Such a great machine for interactive fiction. Also, Level 9 - I never got to play these at the time.
I'm pretty happy with how this cleaned up. Could do with a final going over (especially the keys when my key puller turns up with my other stuff) but a big improvement on how it arrived π
For those who haven't guessed what it is, here is the exterior (and filthy) case ππ
Of course after finding that #BBCMaster video again, YouTube thinks that I should see someone who was not even yet born in the 20th century going on about the woes of typing in PETSCII copied from computer magazine listings. (-:
It's not in fact an experience that I can relate to. I loaded/saved PET programs from/to tape, and never had a C64.
Come to think of it; you don't see many of the #retrocomputing crowd using #cassettes, do you?
Retrocomputers! You haven't had the complete experience until you've accidentally unplugged the headphone jack and listened to the code. No, it doesn't sound like modem handshaking.
MOTOR ON
Although Jonathan Graham Harston has BBC BASIC for the PDP-11.

Aha! Found it! I'd been looking for this. Recommended once by YouTube, and then lost.

There's a follow-up re-hash video by @WiFiSheep that explains the tokenization problem with the CIRCLE statement.
Of the many people who have run #Elite on a Pi second processor, none seem to have thought about switching to the PDP-11 emulation and trying to run some early Unix. But seeing DR-DOS on a BBC Master is pretty wild.

Pretty amazing that the #NES, #AppleII, #BBCMaster, and #BBCMasterCompact versions of the seminal 3-D space trading and combat video game #Elite all fundamentally base their source code from the #Commodore64 port. (All pre-dated by the #BBCMicro and #AcornElectron versions, of course.)

A BBC Master video from me, telling the story of how I got a 6502 second processor working, all for one particular reason.
Youβll need to watch the video to find out what that reason was. π π
It seems I made it onto Hackaday yesterday with one of my old blog articles from 2020.
The one in question was where I used a Raspberry PI 0W as a WiFi enabled USB drive connected to a GoTek to provide disk images to a BBC Master 128.
NB: this technique works for anything a GoTek can connect to - so I've used it on a BBC Micro, Amiga A1200 and Spectrum +3

@NanoRaptor
I wonder whether someone will be inspired by the #Marchintosh #GlobalTalk stuff to make a worldwide #Econet network for the #BBCMaster and #Archimedes computers? Perhaps there should be such a thing as "Apriscos"?
Elite for the BBC master, enhanced version with all the extras, including music, by @markmoxon .
This is a great version of the game. π

@GB followers: Someone interested to exchange my 'Made in GB' #Commodore #C64 breadbin, tested and fully working, against a working #Acorn #BBCmaster in good condition? I'm looking for it for a long time, but nearly impossible in Germany. And this wide used school model lasts in our exhibition.
Please spread the word, thx!

Time to play with this. π
Iβm planning some stuff for a future video.
