Our "quick" Backlog Refinement meeting is 32 minutes now, since ONE guy CANNOT be quick and concise with his tasks. He just finished yapping about one of 6 of his tasks.
Last week when he wasn't around we wrapped the meeting (6 people) in 9 minutes. But apart from that one time we never managed to finish it in under 2 hours. All thanks to ONE yapper.
Not sure which one is scarier - the fact that I understand what they're saying or that my team actually talks like this

So this is the last time I take my car to National Tire and Battery (aka: NTB). I swear they used to check all fluids, now they just sort of, don't? I found out that I was running low on coolant and they asked me when was the last time I checked. I said I brought it here 3,000 miles ago and they were all confused.
I never had to check my coolant because they'd check it for me. At some point they stopped checking and I didn't know they had stopped. They never mentioned it until today. And the worst part is I had to specifically request that they replaced it. They never once offered to re-fill the coolant.
There's a locally owned place farther away. Going to start going there. So, steer clear of NTB. I should have known this would happen when they sold to a private equity firm a year or so ago.
EDIT: Also, all the employeers appear new, so they've also had a lot of turnover and the building is beginning to deteriorate. So....
How many people register what has been happening on the shelves of corporate music stores these last few decades?
Vinyl (a lot of PLASTIC), coexisted with
cassettes (PLASTIC with metal), both almost totally replaced by
CDs (PLASTIC and metal foil) which coexisted with
Mini Discs (PLASTIC with metal), and
DAT (PLASTIC with metal).
Then came all the streaming devices (made of PLASTIC and metals),
and the overhyped return of vinyl (a lot of PLASTIC)
and now the return of the format the industry tried to kill because it was too reliable and needed less replacing, the
CD (PLASTIC and metal foil)
but these are all being squeezed into less space by shelves being dedicated to pushing heavily targeted, franchised useless, often almost identical PLASTIC TOYS for repeatedly conditioned, obsessive adults and kids who know no better.
It all goes back to the mining and petrochemical industries. Instead of reducing output, they keep switching media types and accompanying machinery to keep consumers buying, artificially outdating like the fashion industry. Plastic is the drug. They keep the public addicted.
Many music artists are complicit too, if releasing version after almost identical version in multiple 'collectable' formats ... cue fans buying each colour vinyl (PLASTIC) etc.
And all of this goes to pollution fast, because music is fashion-driven too. Into the landfill they all go, until they get repackaged and rediscovered when enough have been destroyed.
And the industries keep polluting, pushing more and more PLASTIC.
It is a sad and dangerous game of toxic corporations.
Yes love music, but if you have to replace it, support a second hand shop to reduce the ecological damage. Find another way to reward the artist - many need it to keep creating.

If federal and State #Labor were truly worried about the cost of energy as well as the pace of energy transition funding to meet #NetZero , there are more effective and timely ways to address these issues than granting extension to #Woodside ‘s #Gas exploitation in an fragile environment,
1) tax #FossilFuelExtraction industries appropirately (a la Denmark)
2) use tax income to fund electrification and renewables (including storage)
3) legislate reserve gas for domestic use, price-capped to mitigate #costofliving pressures
4) properly support regional areas in local job creation (use that greedy corporate zeal to make some lasting changes in regional Australia).
No extension of gas exploitation was required and the #Corporate #grifters can go an f** themselves.
