Colquitz River. In Summer.
As seen from the footbridge in Cuthbert Holmes, a Saanich municipal park. Colquitz Creek/River is an important local salmon bearing waterway. It is part of a protected watershed system that includes Craigflower Creek. Both feed out into Portage Inlet & the Gorge Waterway.

It takes me exactly 8 minutes to ride from our home to one of my fave spots by nearby #ColquitzRiver. I have a few fave spots around this local nature park. It connects with several other local #Saanich parks.

#Willow #Trees are one of my fave tree species. I especially enjoy seeing them 'dance' on windy days. There's several huge ones in #ColquitzRiver park in #Wsanec / #Saanich to admire & rest underneath.

Several of us in #Saanich are upset about this. We don't know how feds got away w/violating protection of garry oak trees in #CuthbertHolmes & #ColquitzRiver #SaanichParks. Cuthbert Holmes park has a covenant from orginal donor - park is to be perpetually protected & no old growth trees or any garry oaks cut. They clearcut a few hillsides. Hardly any salmon came through river since ecosystem was destroyed. I'm trying to get some answers from municipal government.
