At last! I have made all the icons I use on my system (Pop OS - Cosmic DE) to "alien Tech" icons. It took some time to do it, but I finally made it. Now I have to make the 600 other apps icons I want in the package. :P

When the product is finished it will be available in 10 different colors.

Hey #linux folks, does anyone have an idea as to how to achieve consistent window decorations on #COSMIC DE? I still see GTK-style decorations for #GTK/LibAdwaita applications such as Nautilus, Meld etc.

This ZDNet article, while not explicitly about COSMIC, features screenshots with consistent window decorations.
I've enabled the experimental GTK-related theming setting, and that transfers over the accent color alone. How can I force it to theme window decorations as well?

Nix-shell (for me, as a desktop user) is a powerful tool to, temporarily, enable software I wouldn't otherwise use. And that someone took the trouble to package filen-desktop as a nix package is amazing.
The Intel wifi drivers work ootb on FreeBSD 14.3, which makes it possible for me to install Ungoogled Chromium later on (as a pkg it is only available on stable releases) I got an error after compiling for 4 hrs on an i7 with 16gb, so there's that.
Cosmic beta (cosmix-saigon, on Nix) has been very stable in the first week. Nothing to report, which is great for the DE in beta. Solid!
And for all those stableistas: Slackware Current and Gentoo just keep on working 🥳

Well, I gave #Cosmic a try. Let's just say I'm not overly impressed. I know it's a beta but my problems are more than a few annoying bugs. Oh well back to KDE for me.

A five-point leaf and its stem resting on a sidewalk. Its main color is a burgundy-maroon and its textured veins are all visible as they are lighter in color. The bottom edge of the leaf is colored in what might be described as a subtle, lava sunset (red, orange and yellow) along with a smattering of neon green northern lights. Yellow-white specs populate the center of the leaf and as you reach the top point of the leaf, its tip is populated with the 'lava colors' once again. The leaf's stem is bent in such a way that the leaf's bottom is slightly above the sidewalk and casting a short shadow below it (both the leaf's bottom edge and the stem itself).

Bref, quand tu fais un #sudo de trop où tu joues un peu trop dans les fichiers de configuration, tu te plantes solide et tu apprends de tes erreurs et avec Linux, contrairement à Windows, tu peux repartir sur de nouvelles bases.

Alors c'est pourquoi que je vais continuer à explorer #cosmic en beta avec #pop_os et j'installe aussi un #endeavouros en plasma sur le même ordi mauve. Double boot, babyyy! 😍

Are we desktop yet ? On a giant screen next to the speaker.

This is my eternal-project because it has so many layers applied that it take an eternity to finish. I call the icon theme for "Alien Tech". An icon theme for Cosmic DE and will be available for least 10 different colors ... when I get it finish. Usually I pack each icon pack with ~800 application icons as a starter, plus all the other icons that make the foundation.

J'ai bien aimé bidouiller avec #opensusetumbleweed sur l'environnement de bureau #cosmic mais force d'admettre qu'il n'est pas encore prêt. J'ai essayé en tandem la version de #pop_os en pensant trouver des solutions en comparant avec le distro pour qui Cosmic a été conçu à la base mais... Nope. J'ai des problèmes différents 😅.

Bref, je sers la science et c'est ma joie!

Den svenska översättningen av skrivbordsmiljön #COSMIC börjar nu vara komplett och i rätt så bra skick. Det stora jobbet gjordes av Luna Jernberg, men på sista tiden har jag suttit och pillat med den för att få den till 100% och få den att bli enhetlig.
Så svenska #linux användare får gärna ta och prova den (nightly builds krävs) och komma med lite återkoppling.

A new icon theme project for Cosmic DE is on the horizon. It's "Black Sun" icon theme which I made originally for Gnome, but they were square icons. The Cosmic DE version is round and I made some other changes as well (enhancing it visually).
