Hey, all you #COSMIC Desktop fans out there… weird question. Is there a way to add animations to the desktop? I find the sudden appearance of windows jarring, and I prefer there to be more visual feedback when opening, moving, or closing windows.

I'm using Cachy OS Cosmic. After 5yrs of WMs, I said I'd never go back to another DE. Cosmic is OK, still a little buggy but you can have tiling without the DE getting too much in the way. Might stick with this one for a while. #CachyOS #Cosmic

I'm really impressed with #Cosmic. It's the best desktop experience I've had in quite a while. The clever combination of modern desktop semantics with tiling features hits a sweet spot.

Kudos to @system76 and the rest of the contributors!

Woah, avant de refaire une installation fraîche de #cosmic sur #endeavouros , j'ai décidé de tester le rajout de #COSMIC sur mon autre portable qui roule #Endeavouros avec #lxqt en #Wayland avec #labwc et les résultats sont... bizarres lol.

La capture d'écran fonctionne MAIS j'ai un minimum de trois applis qui ne fonctionnent pas donc le Terminal de COSMIC. J'ai donc utilisé celui de #lxqt (appelé qt terminal) pour vérifier ce qui se passe.

Second day with #Cosmic

I'm already feeling a bit more comfortable.

But this slightly idiosyncratic behaviour when minimising and maximising, where windows don't appear where you expect them to, is quite entertaining on the one hand, but always wastes a bit of your time.

#system76 clearly still has some work to do here.

But still: I'm glad to be out of toxic Hyprland and will definitely keep giving Cosmic plenty of chances.

Quelquefois, il est possible de rajouter un environnement de bureau à une configuration de Linux sans qu'il y ait des petits pépins.

Quelquefois, nope! (Roule les dés) Ça marche pas. En fait tout fonctionne avec #COSMIC sur #endeavouros sauf la capture d'écran depuis ma configuration initiale avec #sway bref, j'ai appris c'est quoi les fameux xdg-desktop-portal mais même en cherchant des solutions, je n'ai pas pu régler le problème. 😂🤣

Bref, je réinstalle endeavour avec Cosmic et a+!

Conclusion after one day of using Cosmic Desktop Environment with Garuda Arch Linux:

Wow. I think I'm a bit of a fan (or very quick to get excited).

Everything feels snappy and the tiling works very well.
However, there is still some optimization and additions to be made. A few things are not yet perfect.

The tiling is sometimes strange when you close a window.
The remaining windows are not next to each other, but below each other, for example.
This can be fixed quickly, but it still seems a bit rough around the edges.

Nevertheless, I think @system76@fosstodon.org has done a very good job with Cosmic so far and will hopefully continue to do so.

I'm looking forward to the next updates.

My #ubuntu ppa for #cosmic desktop #linux is actively updated, latest update is from yesterday and points to 1.0.4-epoch :)

I also see that u mentioned NixOS in ur profile. So wondering, whether cosmic can be managed declaratively like hyprland etc in NixOS/home manager using a module? 🤔

Or for now it's just manually customized?
