On my way to the Cosmic Flows 2025 Conference, that is going to be held at Tamborine Mountain near Brisbane, in Australia.

indico.global/event/12931/

This is my first conference in 5 years - last one was the AAS235 in Honolulu back in January 2020, before the Covid crisis...

A colorful conference poster. Title of conference reads "Cosmic Flows 2025". Location reads "Cedar Creek Lodges, Brisbane, Australia". Dates from February 3 to February 7, 2025. The topics list reads "VELOCITY FIELD RECONSTRUCTION", "THEORY AND SIMULATIONS", "DIRECT PV MEASUREMENTS", "COSMOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS" in capital letters. Lists of persons belonging to the scientific organizing committe and local organizing committee are given. The images featured on the poster are: 1) an artist's view of the Laniakea Supercluster of galaxies, 2) a composite image with Ayers Rock under the Milky Way, with the silouette of a kangaroo in the foreground, and 3) a view of the forest at Tomborine Mountain.

Les courants cosmiques et les bassins d'attraction au menu du nouveau numéro de l'Astronomie, avec un papier d'actualité de Suzy Collin-Zahn sur notre article récent publié dans Nature Astronomy!

/Cosmic flows and basins of attraction are on the menu of the new issue of l'Astronomie, with a news story by Suzy Collin-Zahn on our recent article published in Nature Astronomy!

Wowzer! Map of cosmic flows, by yours truly, makes it to the cover of the Nature Astronomy journal.

"Galaxies from
wherever flock
together"

I'm no poet, but could this be a Haiku?

A cover of the Nature Astronomy journal, dated December 2024, Volume 8, issue number 12, featuring a three-dimensional visualization of the cosmic velocity field inferred from the Cosmicflows-4 catalog of galaxies' distances and velocities. This map spans two billion lightyears from top to bottom. The velocity field is mapped by means of tens of thousands of very thin streamlines, seeded at the positions of the catalog's galaxies. Streamlines are shown white and semi-transparent, against a black background. They exhibit a very complex pattern with multiple attractors, seen as points of convergence of the lines. A text reads Galaxies from wherever flock together.

Cosmography Update

A 3D map of basins of attractions in the Local Universe, inferred from Cosmicflows-4 and based on a probabilistic approach, gives new insights on our cosmic whereabouts. We have not reached the "End of Greatness" yet!

A Nature Grand Slam

Beside making it to the cover, the discovery is the subject of three editorial and news articles, of a worldwide press release, and of a Nature video that will be viewed by more than 8 million people!
