@ascentale @bikenite A2. The 6th annual Cycling Good Cheer parade is tomorrow (Dec7) in Toronto. I'm hopping on go transit to meet a feeder ride. 🚲🧑‍🎄

LOL Doug Ford so concerned about congestion his government wants to remove 900 metres of bike lanes, out of 22 kilometres. These sections have low cyclist traffic so far being so far out of the core, and removing tiny sections will have minimal effects on car traffic.

Ever with his eyes on the ball, that one.

Had a fun morning bike ride at #KidicalMass in High Park!

Also looking forward to having a way to pull or carry my kid's bike to have them ride themselves rather than be in the bike seat. Planning a #FollowMe tandem next spring 🤞

Thanks #CycleTO for organizing! (Please get on fedi!)

I guess I better stop encouraging my child to walk home from school, if this is the plan.

“What exactly does the court’s bike-lane decision mean?

Yes, the Charter protected Toronto’s bike lanes. No, bike lanes are not a Charter right”

@jm_mcgrath on the court win protecting (for the moment) the Bloor, University, and Yonge bike lanes.

WE WON.

Justice Schabas found that Ontario's law, Bill 212, violated section 7 of our charter rights.

The court was impatient with the Ontario government having no evidence to back up its claims.

The bike lanes on Bloor Street, University Avenue, and Yonge Street are now *protected* (get it?) from Doug Ford attempt to remove them.

Section 7 - Life, liberty, and security of person

7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.

Section 7 guarantees the life, liberty and personal security of all Canadians. It also requires that governments respect the basic principles of justice whenever they intrude on those rights.

After promoting this anti-bike, anti-transit, anti-homeless event, did Councillor Brad Bradford skip attending because he saw that there were only 30 people there? I’m only hypothesizing, you’d have to ask him.

The group of about 30 residents were
joined by Anthony Furey, the right-wing
pundit who came fourth to Chow in the
2023 mayoral byelection and is
considering running again, as well as
Toronto Conservative MP Roman Baber.

Coun. Brad Bradford (Ward 19, Beaches-
East York), who placed eighth two years
ago and is widely expected to challenge
Chow again next year, was listed as a
speaker but didn't show. He told the Star
he was tied up at a previously scheduled
planning committee meeting.

Rumour on Urban Toronto has city councillor planning to kill some cycling infrastructure near the Danforth.

The neighbourhood is wealthy, drives more than it should given the subway nearby, and the cycling plan *adds* parking but it’s still not enough for car-fetish Toronto.
