The story goes that when Phaethon, the son of Helios, drove his father's chariot he lost control & Zeus/Jupiter had to kill him.

In the aftermath, Phaethon's lover, Cygnus, collected his bones to give him a proper funeral. The gods were so moved by this devotion, they put him in the night sky as a swan (who famously mate for life).

I've spent a lot of time imaging in Cygnus, but I had missed this particular area previously. SH2-112 (the circle on the left side) would be better captured with a narrower field of view, but I still like the red glow and dark dust in this area.

$From source link in toot: This release features a composite image of the Cygnus OB2 star cluster, which resembles a night sky blanketed in orange, purple, and grey clouds. The center of the square image is dominated by purple haze. This haze represents diffuse X-ray emissions, and young stars, detected by the Chandra X-ray observatory. Surrounding the purple haze is a mottled, streaky, brick orange cloud. Another cloud resembling a tendril of grey smoke stretches from our lower left to the center of the image. These clouds represent relatively cool dust and gas observed by the Spitzer Space Telescope. Although the interwoven clouds cover most of the image, the thousands of stars within the cluster shine through. The lower-mass stars present as tiny specks of light. The massive stars gleam, some with long refraction spikes.$

This image shows a very close zoom-in of the leading edge of the supernova remnant called the Cygnus Loop. Amid a backdrop with some sparse stars, glowing filaments of hydrogen (in orange) seem to be weaving across the middle of the image.

Maybe it's just me, but I looked at and read the description of the #Constellation of #Cygnus for Astrological Magic work in the Speculum Lapidum, and nothing in that source hints at Romantic love.
