#NationalHighways (the #traffic authority for #motorways and fast #highways in #England and #Wales ) had better luck catching them #swans - officers are now trained to do this and keep #swan bags in the vans (the officer who caught the swan had already done this 3 times before in 7 years)

National Highways traffic officers rescued a swan this week - a lovely act of #kindness in the line of duty!

The #swan was waddling about on the M1, a busy motorway, during the mid-morning traffic.

The heroes of the day were Adrian Woods and Simon Quigley, and apparently it’s not the first time this has been an issue according to Adrian:

“Unfortunately, when the roads are wet or there is a haze over the carriageway, swans think it is a body of water and land on the road."
