@dfx Das hat mir jetzt keine Ruhe gelassen und deshalb habe ich für #dosbox nach einer Lösung gesucht.
Ergebnis ist eine kleine Batchdatei, die als DOS-Menü in dosbox im laufenden Betrieb das deutsche Tastaturlayout zwischen CP 437 und CP 858 umschalten kann.
Aus Langeweile und Neugier entstand Wissen und Praktik. 😉

How did games back then figure out their timing, anyway? They seem to do it somehow (bugs aside), but how? There was no RDTSC before the Pentium. I'm back at investigating the NRI coin rejector's configuration software. I could not get it to recognise the rejector with the original PC it used to run on. I can't be sure if the serial port or something else is broken, so I copied the software over, configured DOSBox to user a real serial port with 16550A and plugged the dongle into that.

No dice, but DOSBox gives very interesting error messages, this thing tries to configure the COM1 into very peculiar baud rates.

Yesterday, in an attempt to avoid all sorts of responsibilities, I started pulling apart another #Psion SIBO C SDK tool.

ECOBJ.EXE takes an Intel OMF file (.OBJ) for a class and moves the class descriptor data into the code segment. Unlike #CTRAN, I have absolutely no docs on how it does this. I also have no experience with the object file format.

This has never stopped me before.

So, armed with a hex editor, a PDF documenting OMF (link below), and my beloved #Pascal, I've set to work.

So far, so good!

Dobrze, jakiś czas temu okazało się, że DOSemu jest fe i teraz DOSbox jest król.

No to ponieważ nic mnie nie goni (jeszcze) na spokojnie rozkminiam czy to co od dawna odpalam w dosemu, a wcześniej normalnie we freedos można w dosbox i… wygląda, że się wykłada bo nie mam CONFIG.SYS i nie mogę mu FILES=100 BuFFERS=100… Tak przynajmniej zacząłbym na prawdziwym kompie z DOS.

Czy może mogę tylko ktoś to przede mną ukrywa?

Anyone? PLS! :D
