New antenna installed and running. Not much difference from the prototype, although I do seem to be getting a bit more range to the South and North-West.

I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, which is mostly nice, but sometimes, it's nice to be able to look up and spot an occasional jumbo jet freighter in the sky, and know it left Zurich ten hours ago, and will be landing in San Francisco in a hour. It's always interesting when you open a flight tracker and see a plane doing something STRANGE. This 787 from Boeing Field, Seattle currently looping around out there, specifically right off my coast. A Boeing test flight of some sort, I would guess?

(1/2) On Flightrader 24 watched a light-twin cargo aircraft likely with a single pilot take of on a 20 minute flight from Portland to Salem OR, leaving an hour-twenty late, fly around for an hour or more, all over like he was sightseeing, fly over Salem airport several times, maybe doing touch-and-go, but not stopping, fly a less than direct course back to Portland, fly over downtown, land, and taxi back to his terminal. WTF?

My ADS-B flight tracking keeps going offline when the weather gets warm. I have the Raspberry Pi in a metal shed that gets quite hot when the sun shines.
The Pi itself is fine but I think it's the Radarbox dongle that overheats. So I've removed it's plastic case in the hope that it manages to radiate heat away from itself.
I post this only because the plane reportedly declaring an emergency appears to have landed safely, but naming your flight "AAAAAAA" is just asking for trouble, folks.
