Today has been all about #GIS and its intersection with #hazardmitigation and #disaster #preparedness. I firmly believe that we need to resist the urge to be "all maps and no substance," but I'm just as firm in my belief that there are few better ways than a well-designed map to support a narrative discussion.

I'm a believer in #hazardmitigation, but this example is a fortunate one. A plan for the space emerged over time, along with investment from said college. It shows how #riskreduction on its own is admirable, but it needs to be coupled with #strategicplanning for its potential to be unlocked.
