There is a thing which does confuse me. Sometimes if I run 'yay' on my arch installation to update all packages entering my password does not work.
I double checked if some modifier key is active by writing it to the console and it is correct. Still I cannot enter the password correctly.

Let's say I want to install 3 kernels 2 I use active and an LTS one if I do stupid stuff once again.
If I have seen it correctly each kernel does place around 200mb of data into the directory so 800mb should be enough, right? If I understood Linux correctly the Kernel itself is installed somewhere to the root directory.

I want to auto-login into the TTY on Arch with my user, since I already entered the encryption password and “verified” that it’s me.
the Arch wiki tells me to make a /etc/systemd/system/getty@tty1.service.d/autologin.conf, but I don’t have this folder. I have a folder getty.target.wants with the default settings.
now I’m confused what to do!

#LinuxQuestion: I’m running #TimeShift for the first time. I’m saving the #snapshot to a USB hard drive. It’s been running for over 12 hours. It seems to be stuck because the backup isn’t getting any larger now. How long can it take to make the first snapshot?
Also, it’s impossible to kill the timeshift #rsync processes. I’ve run it several times and had to force reboot the computer to start over. I’m trying to upgrade to a newer version of #LinuxMint.
I’m struggle to decide install Arch with the automatic partition layout (only /boot and /) or make a /home partition separated. Any advice? (I have not plan to install other distros in the same disk) #linux #linuxquestion

Linux question:
When I right click on a file go properties and go permissions.
What determines if the "Allow executing file as program" box is checked or not ?
Oftentimes programs I want to execute don't have it checked and today I noticed that a bunch of random video files I got from a Windows user have it checked.
Is there a tool in the #coreutils (or otherwise already integrated in #Linux per default) to reverse identifying symlinks? I mean in a way to show me a file with all the symlinks linking to that one. Any reccomendations? 🤔
