Just bridged my account from Mastodon to Bluesky using @bsky.brid.gy so you can now follow me on either platform! Still relatively new to all of this, trying to figure things out as I go ...

Check out our new article introducing phylogeochemistry, combining #macroevolution with #geochemistry. We investigated evolutionary patterns of element ratios in #belemnites through the Jurassic and Cretaceous.

Simon et al. compared the role of constraints and selection on function to align micro- and macroevolutionary patterns of hindlimb trait covariation in frogs. They inferred that species tracked jumping performance peaks mostly along lines of least resistance within-species. Read now ahead of print!

Januario et al. found no correlation between sexual selection intensity & speciation rates or proxy traits. Because sexual selection intensity has high intraspecific variation and low phylogenetic signal, its macroevolutionary impacts are weak. Read now!

🚨New #phylogenetic paper alert!🚨
🌲+🔥= speciation?
This one has been a bit of a journey, but thanks to lead author Dan Turck's expertise on #conifers it has turned out as quite the treasure-trove of conifer #Evolution !

🚨New Paper🚨
@EvolLetters Check out a cool story behind the importance of ecological opportunities in #lizard #macroevolution ! Besides exciting 🦎-biology, it's our 1st go at Causal Inference for #diversification models (our related project funded by @snsf_ch ). More soon!

I signed up for this site last year so it’s about time I actually started using it! A bit of an #introduction. I am an #ornithologist who works on #phylogenetics #taxonomy and #macroevolution. These days mostly with #suboscine birds. I love working with and contributing to citizen/community science databases like #iNaturalist and #eBird. Follow along for wildlife photography and science content!
