Doing some tinkering, and it's my first time using breadboards for prototyping. This is neat!

Currently putting together a local-only "smart" speaker pair setup with an ESP32, DAC, and amplifier (not pictured, it hasn't arrived yet) to go along with a pair of bookshelf speakers. My goal is to replace my Sonos/Symfonisk speakers in my living room with this setup, using Music Assistant to stream to it.

I have an HA Voice, my Liunx phone, and my craptop playing in sync. When one looses sync, it nudges them till they're in sync again! This is fucking cool!

The build is successful!

I finally finished* my TagTuner music jukebox and hooked it up to some speakers. It uses the ESPHome-based Home Assistant Voice PE as its brains and audio player, and when it scans NFC tags, it fetches corresponding media from my Music Assistant server.

I still have a couple bugs to work out, but this is definitely close enough to feel "ready".

I'm so happy to have a tool that will let us both (a) leverage my large home media server and (b) enjoy some of the benefits of physical media.

For some reason, the #beets Spotify plugin stores Spotify IDs (Artist, Track, Album) in the corresponding MusicBrainz tags. This prevents these files from being imported into #MusicAssistant (the files fail with “Invalid MusicBrainz identifier” during library scan). I made a PR to fix this behavior in beets: https://github.com/beetbox/beets/pull/6349

@ntzply ich hatte bei YouTube mehrere Videos zu #MusicAssistant in @jellyfin integriert gefunden.
Hab es mangels Zeit noch nicht weiter verfolgt, aber sah sehr gut aus.

So I installed today #MusicAssistant on my #NAS

I added my #Navidrome library and also #AppleMusic

And you know what? It functions really good! Even on my aged hardware. On desktop it is really flawless. Even scrobbling from Apple Music finally works. Something which always fail on iOS.
PWA is supported, however after the first time logging in, I wasn’t able to reach the server again. It’s not necessarily a service failure. Let’s see if I find the root cause for this behaviour

VLC does handle 5.1 steaming via AppleTV.

I have a much better opinion of #musicassistant. It's still very buggy but in this case I can understand. Media streaming is complex and messy, I think the Music Assistant developers are doing a good job overall. I wish it had better integration with #openHAB. I guess I'll have to take care of that myself.

(Post 3/3) - Der letzte, fehlende Kanal: Port 8097!

Die finale Log-Analyse (Squeezelite im Debug-Modus!) enthüllte den wahren Grund: Music Assistant nutzt Port 3483/UDP für die Player-Steuerung (Autodiscovery, Play/Pause), aber Port 8097/TCP für den eigentlichen Audiostream! Dieser entscheidende Port war in der UFW noch geschlossen.

Firewall-Regel für 8097/TCP gesetzt (ufw allow 8097/tcp), neu geladen – und siehe da: ES SPIELT!

Was für eine Lektion: Netzwerk-Dienste nutzen oft unterschiedliche Ports für Steuerung und Daten. Und ufw fragt nicht, ob es ein Datenstrom ist. Aber jetzt läuft das Orchester wieder perfekt synchron! 🎶

(Post 1/3) - Music Assistant & PiCorePlayer: Der nächste Stolperstein

Nach dem großen Server-Neubau und der erfolgreichen Rettung meiner Daten wollte ich Music Assistant wieder zum Laufen bringen, um meinen PiCorePlayer mit FiiO DAC zu bespielen. Doch der Player blieb stumm. Music Assistant fand ihn nicht, oder der PiCorePlayer stürzte bei jedem Wiedergabeversuch ab.

Start einer neuen Fehlerforschung, die tief in Netzwerk, Firewalls und Audio-Treiber führte...

Mình muốn dùng Docker + Music Assistant + Symfonium để nghe Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud và nhạc nội bộ trên laptop luôn bật. Docker đã cài ổn, Music Assistant đã sync Soundcloud, nhưng Symfonium không hiện Music Assistant làm nguồn media dù cùng Wi‑Fi. Có ai biết cách khắc phục không?
