one of the millions of posts to think about when MAGAs and Elon etc. are saying that the left wing are the ones calling for violence

(this was apparently posted to the Libertarian Party's account by Jeremy Kauffman, an infamous race scientist and favourite of #elon. it earned him a visit from the #FBI and/or secret service, which he documented on social media)

#VisuallyImpaired #voters sue #NewHampshire over changes to #Absentee #BallotAccess

The plaintiffs say the new law will deter some voters with #disabilities from participating in the democratic process at all, even after they have registered to vote

By Steven Porter Globe Staff, Updated August 21, 2025, 9:30 a.m.

"Three people with visual impairments are suing New Hampshire officials to challenge the constitutionality of a law that will soon tighten #PhotoID requirements for voters seeking an #AbsenteeBallot.

"The plaintiffs — Adele Robertson of #ExeterNH, Daniel Frye of #ConcordNH, and Regina Wilson of #BrentwoodNH — allege the new law, known as #SenateBill287, will impose a significant burden on every #AbsenteeVoter statewide.

" 'And, in some cases, these burdens will entirely prevent voters from exercising their #RightToVote,' their lawsuit states.
Under the new rules imposed by #SB287, voters will be required to either bring a photo ID to their local election officials to request an absentee ballot in person, or submit a copy of their ID or a notarized signature along with their application.
While proponents said the legislation will better protect election integrity, critics said the changes will add barriers that disproportionately impact #seniors, voters with #disabilities, and those living in #rural parts of the state."

A warning about NH, expressed in two links:

newhampshirebulletin.com/brief

newhampshirebulletin.com/brief

If you have the ability to leave here, please leave. If you have the choice to come here, don't. It's North MAGAstan up here, and increasingly unsafe for anyone not a white supremacist. NH has always been a bit of a shit hole, but it's going to get a lot worse very quickly. Save yourself if you can.

The same day that the NH Senate killed three bills designed to make Cannabis more accessible to Granite Staters, they are pushing forward a bill designed to allow Bar Patrons to pour their own Beer.

I have worked in Bars. I can't imagine anyone who does actually wants patrons doing this. It'll be a mess.

And the continued idea that Cannabis is Dangerous and Must Be Stopped but Alcohol is A-OK makes *zero* sense.

I just found this flyer on the New Hampshire legal aid website and I love that they’re trying to get this information out there.

This is how we participate in committee hearings and ratio bad bills to death.

(This is from 2022 & I guess they were successful in restoring the ability to do public comment remotely because I’ve been doing it all this year.)

I am so excited about this because I’ve been trying to get my friends to join me and making public opposition or support, and now I can just send them this photo.

This is a “porn ban” for NH being heard on Wednesday in the NH judiciary committee.

It’s wild because it’s telling electronics manufacturers they have to install a filter on smart phones and tablets that would prevent minors from accessing obscene materials, and I just don’t understand how they think device manufacturers are going to go through all this just so they can sell devices in our tiny state. We can just go buy them in mass. Or kids can use their laptops because those aren’t included in this law.

Anyway if you would like to support or oppose the bill you can use this link right here

gc.nh.gov/house/committees/rem

After you enter your information you would choose February 5, then you would choose the judiciary committee from the drop-down, then you would choose HB293 at 11 AM, support or oppose, and if you write anything in the text box just be aware that it becomes public record.

If the link here does not show you the text for the bill you should see a drop-down for “version” and you’ll just want to choose introduced, or if there’s a more recent one pick that one. That should allow you to read the whole bill.

A screenshot of the text of HB293.

You can read the whole thing in the link but I mainly wanted people to see without clicking that this only applies to tablets and smart phones and that it requires the manufacturer to come up with a filter and it creates civil and criminal penalties for people or manufacturers who help a minor get around the filter.

We don’t have a hearing date for this one yet but NH HB600 is for Ranked Choice Voting.

I know that the dems hate the idea of ranked choice voting because then independent parties have a chance, but this is exactly why we need #RCV

I want to cry. These are all on tap from Monday, February 3 being heard in the house science and technology committee, legislative office building room 302 to 304.

They are relative to banning offshore energy, prohibiting any offshore wind farms, and removing and repealing things that are already there.

I was going to list them and how to oppose them individually. But that’s just this one committee one day of next week and just looking at them individually made me feel tired.

Anyway, if you care about offshore wind farms and don’t want them to be repealed and prohibited in New Hampshire, please look at some of these in this link.

I’ll reply to this with the link where you can register your opposition to these things.

I know people don’t like to put their information in these online petitions, but it would be really great if we could get some ranked choice voting in New Hampshire.

I’m really struggling with supporting a grassroots organization that put their page on Twitter and that added a Facebook thumbs up to their website for tracking, but these assholes keep telling me not to let perfect be the enemy of good. I’m not sure that relying on Facebook and Twitter is particularly good, but we do need ranked choice voting.

We need ranked choice voting but I’m not sharing links if meta can track people.

The bill supports the principle of local control by opt-in and gives voters More Choice and More Voice.
RCV:
Encourages competition without the problems of vote-splitting
Eliminates the spoiler effect
Does away with strategic voting
Lets voters vote their conscience
Curbs negative campaigning and reduces polarization
Levels the playing field
Better reflects voters' preferences and the will of the people
Ensures voters are electing candidates with the most voter support (majority winners)!
