Ugh. I installed more RAM, and the glitchy bs with the #VST piano from #Musio is back. I can start the playhead at silence and hear a metallic, percussive sound that echoes. It repeats every time you stop-start the playhead. Also makes the glitch sound AFTER MIDI marks, like a rebound or echo effect.

Okay - I think I need a DAW terminology orientation. I have a #reaper project, with a click track and scratch guitars I want to sent to our drummer so he can record drums. How do I export the project so it can be imported into another DAW (I assume #ProTools - but I'm not 100% sure).

I keep running into vocabulary that I don't know. Words like "render", "stems", etc...

Back in the olden days, when #Fairlight and #ProTools were still their own companies, I was trained on the Fairlight Constellation at a sister studio of one running Pro Tools. I came back to the Pro Tools one and was talking about how badass the Constellation was, including (but not limited to) this wonderful "rotate" knob on the panner. A traditional pan knob moves one dimensions at a time. There are also panning joysticks that enable to you two dimensions. The "rotate" knob pans around the circle. It's the same as spinning the joystick around the outer edge, but if you're starting with something panned closer to the center of a surround image, it's moving around a much smaller circle than you could do with a joystick, and if you're panning a stereo sound, it's rotating that stereo image around the circle, something I'd defy anyone to do very accurately with a pair of joysticks. I thought this knob was amazing, but one of my coworkers at the Pro Tools studio poo-poohed it, saying he'd had one of those on a console he used and thought he'd use it all the time, but he never did. I never got to use the Fairlight enough back then to tell him he was wrong, but I'm using it now and he was wrong. That knob is my new favorite way to pan things. It's amazing.

Yamaha přišla s novinkou CC1 USB Controller. Control surface, který má být kompatibilní se systémem Elgato Stream Deck a míří nejen na hudební produkci, ale i na streaming, podcasty a video.

„Kompatibilní se StreamDeck standardem“ bude podle všeho znamenat hlavně těch 12 LCD tlačítek (fungují přes Stream Deck software). Zbytek zařízení je spíš „klasický“ DAW control surface (fader/knoby/transport). Uvidíme, co ještě Yamaha doplní v dalších materiálech a updatech. Popř. zda další ovládací prvky budou podporovat např. aplikace od Bitfocusu.

• Foot pedal input (Yamaha FC5/FC7) – praktické pro push-to-talk, marker, start/stop apod.
• Budoucí rozšiřování: Yamaha avizuje další integrace (včetně ovládání vybraného Yamaha HW)
