I had a bad fencing weekend in London. I competed in the London HEMA Open tournament in three categories (in this order): saber, rapier and dagger, and longsword.

In saber I won two and lost two fights in the pool, ending up 30th before elimination, where I lost (deservedly) in the first round.

In rapier and dagger I fought a bit better - I won three times, and lost two times, ending up 22nd. However, because it was (too?) late, the organisers decided to let only 16 fighters (out of 58) into the elimination. Hm 😕

In longword I was just simply stupid. In the pool I won all bouts, but, like last year, I lost in the first round of elimination 🤦‍♂️ Why...

Cum acīnace, post circulō quārtus decimus dē IL proeliatōrēs fuī et in ēlīminātiōne progressus sum. Tamen in gradū prīmō trīgintā duōrum proeliatōrum victus sum.
Cum rapperiā cum pugiōne sextus decimus dē XXXV proeliatōrēs fuī et quoque progressus sum in ēlīminātiōne. In gradū prīmō vīcī, sed victus sum in gradū alterō.

Yesterday and the day before I took part in the Berlin HEMA Cup. Here I describe the first day when I fought with saber, and rapier with dagger. This tournament used an unusual system where the results of the bouts were not important, but those of the indiviudal exchanges were. With saber, I was 14th after the pools out of 49 competitors, and advanced to the elimination. However, I lost in the first round of 32.
With rapier and dagger I was 16th out of 35, and also advanced to the elimination. I won in the first round, but lost in the second.

The second to the last week I took part in the tournament FechtBerg in Bielsko-Biała in Poland. On the first day we fenced with longsword and rapier with dagger. With the longsword I fought very well: I won all the bouts in the group, and then in first three elimination bouts. However, in the fourth bout, the quarter-final, I lost to Pavel Dostal, and finished 5th to 8th.
I did not fight as well with rapier and dagger: in total I won three bouts as well as lost three, one of which was in the first round of elimination.
On the second day there was a team longsword tournament in which I participated as a member of the Czech team. We fought very well, only one team - the Polish one - defeated us, therefore our team finished 2nd.
The last competition was saber, but in it I fought the worst of all the competitions - I won only two bouts in the group, I lost three, and did not advance to the elimination.
