Lamelliphoridae is an #extinct #family of #fossil #seaSnails, #marine gastropod #molluscs in the #clade #Littorinimorpha. According to #taxonomyOfTheGastropodaByBouchetAndRocroi2005 the family Lamelliphoridae has no subfamilies.

The beach has smaller black crabs on the reefs, but none of them played dead for me to shoot their photo.

There were also other crabs living in snail shells, but couldn't get a good photo either.

Those perfectly round holes in shells on the beach? They could be from moon snails (Conuber sordidum). These sneaky predators hunt in intertidal muddy sand flats, feeding on bivalves, gastropods & even soldier crabs!

Using their muscular foot, moon snails trap their victim before drilling a hole in their shell with their tongue-like structure called a radula. Then, they slurp up their live prey through the hole. Sneaky!
