Eine quadratische Schwarz-Weiss-Aufnahme zeigt einen Alpensteinbock, der einen steilen, schneebedeckten Hang diagonal von rechts oben nach links unten quert. Das Tier ist im rechten Bilddrittel positioniert und hebt sich dunkel von der hellen, weissen Umgebung ab. Der Steinbock hat imposante, nach hinten geschwungene Hörner und blickt konzentriert nach vorne unten. Sein Körper ist muskulös, die Beine tief im Schnee versunken, was die Anstrengung der Bewegung verdeutlicht. Die Schneefläche nimmt den Grossteil des Bildes ein und weist eine unregelmässige Struktur aus sanften Mulden und Wellen auf, die durch Lichteinfall plastisch wirken. Ein langer, markanter Schatten des Tieres streckt sich weit nach links unten über die weisse Fläche.

The Enchantments: Colchuck Lake to Perfection Lake, part one - from Hikes of 2024. Day two in The Enchantments featured the most anticipated and talked about stretch of trail that year: Aasgard Pass. The wind picked up this day. I found the climb up Aasgard to be the hardest ascent I've ever done. It took close to three hours to make it through the boulder field and all the way up Aasgard, even though that stretch was less than two miles long. The 46-pound pack that I was carrying didn't help, nor did the persistent foot/heel/knee pain that I often deal with. But, wow - once we crested Aasgard Pass and entered The Core, the effort became completely worth it. So many charming lakes, a gently rolling trail down, larches scattered throughout the scene - fantastic. These images were all taken on the way up, or on the way to, the pass.
