Tour bus for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes #baseball team.

With the reorganization of the Minors by Major League Baseball in 2021, the Volcanoes were cut and lost their affiliation. The owners of the Volcanoes decided to carry on as an independent micro-league of four teams: The Volcanoes, The Salem Senators (a historical local team name), Campesinos de Salem-Keizer (the Volcanoes' Copa de la Diversión alternate name), and a revival of the Portland Mavericks (which isn't based in #PDX at all, but the nostalgia for the 1970s team merch lives on.) All four teams play at Roto-Rooter Stadium, sometimes two games a day, which means there's no need for a tour bus any more. It has been sitting in the parking lot for nearly five years now.

My speculation, for which I have no evidence, just a hunch: The Emeralds are playing their final season in Eugene next year (something about being unable to upgrade their stadium), and I strongly suspect the Canes' owner would like to buy their MiLB rights and move the team to Keizer. So why not keep the bus around? They may need it. Baseball is a game of hope.

The perfect reflection of the tree in the back window of the bus is absolutely a #HappyAccident.

Rode my #ebike across the #Oregon State University campus to get a look at Goss Stadium, where the Beavers play #baseball. Not a very architecturally interesting building from the outside, so I took this shot of some trophies and balls instead. The Beavers have made the College World Series 8x and won 3x. Also the Collegiate Wood Bat League Corvallis Knights play here, and they're frequently league champions. Stadium seats about 3.5k. That's two winning teams in a relatively small facility. Meanwhile, the nearby football stadium seats about 35k -- it's 10x the size of Goss. Baseball is truly the Rodney Dangerfield of college sports.
