Whenever I read about a case of AI Psychosis wherein someone mistook a LLM chatbot for a self-aware entity, or folks talk about having emotional affairs, or relationships with LLM chatbots. I think about this still from the BBC TV mini series adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy from 1981.

It seems somewhat likely, it may be a plot, to make finding HUMAN content easier, so that LLMs can be trained on it. AS training such things on LLM generated works, can lead to model collapse.

Remembering that time on Star Trek TNG, they came up with that viral geometric pattern they were going to upload into Hugh the Borg drone's optical implant to possibly destroy the borg / a large number of borg.
AND wishing their was kind of a way to do that (easily) in terms of LLM model collapse.
LIKE a single geometric shape or set of words one could seed in future training data, which would contaminate the LLM. That also worked across all implementations.
NOTE: Im aware a few vendors have some vendor specific magic values which can gum up the works AND there are strategies for directing LLM crawlers to dynamically generated poisoned content when a LLM looks at it.

LLMs are trained on massive amounts of FLOSS code; and can on occasion reproduce free & open-source licensed code verbatim, when assisting folks with code.
In most cases, the LLM does not provide licensing or sourcing information, and in many such instances can be facilitating using code without respect to attribution or copyleft requirements.

While many linux distros are agnostic on LLM generated code; unsure they ought to be dictating the dev tools contributors use; or even developing policies on how to incorporate it into their projects responsibly.
Gentoo and ElementaryOS have banned LLM code from their project code entirely. (Though they can do nothing about upstream projects they consume.)
NetBSD has instituted a policy barring any LLM generated code from the entirety of its base system.
AND FreeBSD's draft policy appears to be similar.

"Large language models (LLMs) are widely described as artificial intelligence, yet their epistemic profile diverges sharply from human cognition. Here we show that the apparent alignment between human and machine outputs conceals a deeper structural mismatch in how judgments are produced. Tracing the historical shift from symbolic AI and information filtering systems to large-scale generative transformers, we argue that LLMs are not epistemic agents but stochastic pattern-completion systems, formally describable as walks on high-dimensional graphs of linguistic transitions rather than as systems that form beliefs or models of the world. By systematically mapping human and artificial epistemic pipelines, we identify seven epistemic fault lines, divergences in grounding, parsing, experience, motivation, causal reasoning, metacognition, and value. We call the resulting condition Epistemia: a structural situation in which linguistic plausibility substitutes for epistemic evaluation, producing the feeling of knowing without the labor of judgment. We conclude by outlining consequences for evaluation, governance, and epistemic literacy in societies increasingly organized around generative AI."

We've had niches where AI had real cost benefit since the 1980s -- I've designed and led teams on some such systems myself -- but they're rare and they're point solutions, not cheaply generalisable.
Today's #StochasticParrots offer no cost benefit, except in domains where accuracy truly does not matter, and those are rare. In every other domain, the cost of checking their output is higher than the cost of doing the work.
