A "find the bird" exercise. On the trunk of a sunny green tree a slightly larger than average leaf has captured a spot of golden sunlight but is otherwise mostly a tasteful shade of green. On closer inspection, this is the female Silvery Tanager, a green-bodied birb with a bright soft orange-yellow head. Cocachimba, Peru. Nov 2024. A long image of a pair of birds on a horizontal branch cut out to make a banana feeder for tanagers. The black and gray bird is face down and tail up in the banana. The colorful orange faced, greenish yellow bird is standing more erect with its beak open in a scold in the direction of the darker bird. This is the male (darker bird) & female (more colorful lighter bird) Silvery Tanager. The name comes from the silver/gray mantle of the male. Cocachimba, Peru. Photo by Peachfront. Nov 2024.
