Anyone have recommendations for a headset? I work from home and my wife and I share an open space.
- Wired USB
- Ambient noise reduction mic
- Over ear headphones
- No proprietary software
- Works with Linux
- Under or around $200 if possible

One hour to go. I daren't slope off. I'm one of those people who always gets caught. 😞
This is not on! I'm having to work!
I do love how the wife exclaimed last night: "You can work in the spare room! I'm not having you and your ringing phone ruining my day off."
The woman can't stay out of the spare room! She's in here every five minutes. She's just announced she's bringing the dog up in a minute. WTF? 🤣 🤦🏻♂️

Who Works from Home After the Pandemic? https://d.repec.org/n?u=RePEc:iae:iaewps:wp2025n18&r=&r=bec
"… while worker preferences are relevant, the results suggest that it is the nature of jobs that is the main factor determining who has the option to work from home.
… strong associations between #WFH full days and both occupation and industry
… findings suggest that the growth in WFH may be driving further increases in labour market inequality. WFH comes with obvious benefits for workers such as reduced commuting costs and improved work-family fit, and these benefits are mostly being captured by workers in higher paying jobs and occupations, employed on permanent contracts, and working full-time hours.
That said, those taking advantage of the option to work from home might face long-term career penalties, with evidence from choice experiments suggesting that fully remote workers are at a disadvantage in terms of future promotion and salary increase prospects"

The year is young, and some of us might be feeling a bit 'fuller' around the hips. 😅
For those who, like me, work from home a lot and enjoy #cycling, a #Deskbike might be an interesting option. I’ve had one for about a year now and have pedaled almost 2,000 km in that time; usually for an hour after lunch to get back into the flow.
No regrets so far.
And no, I don’t own any shares in the company, nor am I employed there. 😉

This is why even as an #introvert & a #homebody, I can’t work fully remote without a fall-back for #SocialLife 🙁:

We have not fully reckoned with Covid’s impact on cities. Some things, like people fleeing cities, were temporary. But other impacts have been lasting. In S.F., it left behind a city that’s less affordable, filled with older residents who are more likely to live alone. And #WFH, Covid’s most enduring result, still robs #transit of riders. https://www.sfchronicle.com/projects/2025/demographics-shift-san-francisco/

Meowwwww shouts one of my cats, so I go to see what is up. The other cat is sitting a little bit away, shakes her paw and accidently flicks a bit of cat litter at me. They both then go to their food as if I'm not there. 😂
Ummmm... no. I will not be spending a min. $53 to travel 10 min to work. Looks like another wfh day.
