#ZenBrowser

@cynical13 I use the same setup on both desktop and mobile, except that my main daily driver is #librewolf instead of #zenbrowser as there are currently no Zen features that I need for my workflow as a #WebDev.
The best feature of both browser for me these days is their #NOAI policies.

2/2

I keep #Vivaldi as my #2 browser, for when #ZenBrowser is lagging a bit in updates. And there are the occasional sites that don't work well on a #Gecko browser.

Vivaldi does have a ton of built-in features that are great. I love the notes that sync across my account and the speed dial keeps important links visible and accessible. Sites load quickly, it can be snappy. I have it on #Android, along with #Waterfox as my two mobile browsers.

But Vivaldi's interface also feels more dated to me. It's less attractive and less slick. The screen capture tool is good, but could be better. The mail and RSS reader is serviceable, but doesn't handle some of my accounts very well and isn't as robust as a dedicated program like #Thunderbird.

1/2

I really love using #ZenBrowser as my daily #WebBrowser. I generally prefer the #Gecko engine over #Chromium. I love the way it will let you select specific web elements when you take a snapshot and the built-in PDF reader is much more powerful than the default Chromium one. I find the text easier to read and the visuals are crisper. The design is more modern and there are little effects that are quite attractive.

There are a few things I wish it did better. I've gotten spoiled by #Vivaldi browser's copying an address from the address bar but strips out tracking parameters (the "?" and everything to the right in the address bar). It also can lag behind releases of #Firefox, which can make it more vulnerable.

Du coup : Firefox ONLY.

Le seul navigateur épinglé et dont je vais me servir. Bien sûr, je surveille encore les autres, mais juste à des fins de curiosité.

(comme sous #zenbrowser en fait)

I have pinned tabs in @zenbrowser and sometimes I accidentally press the favicon which resets the tab back to it's pinned URL.

Is there a way to disable this behaviour?

Does anyone have experience using Save Desktop and knows if it lets you keep all your tabs, extensions and settings from @zenbrowser?

If not: What's the best way to make sure I keep all my tabs etc when I do a clean install of an OS?

If you are still in doubt about trying Zen Browser @zenbrowser , let me show you this screenshot and hopefully it can convince you to try it now.

Not sure if it legally applies to me, I only distribute the app on Codeberg, plus the Flatpak via Disroot's file sender because it exceeds Codeberg's file limit, but I just put it out there, in case this would apply to FOSS projects distributed solely on code collaboration platforms. What can they do with me? I'm anonym, they don't know my real-world identity, and even if they hire hackers, and de-anonymize me, what do they do with me? Fine me? Not gonna pay. Arrest me then? I'm in Europe. But I guess they don't even know about the existence of the app, so why should I even bother?)

@cynical13 @rolandixor

OK, I've checked that #Floorp is sticking to opt-in AI, something that you can go and enable if you want. Better route than #Firefox.

blog.floorp.app/en/notice/2512

Since I don't need these things and I like more minimalist aspects, #ZenBrowser is already filling my needs.

2026-03-06

@rolandixor Meanwhile, I'm on #ZenBrowser, which respects privacy by default, and they are doing some really neat updates! #Firefox should learn UX from them even though it's a fork.

Zmienilem sobie styl #ZenBrowser na bardziej sloneczno-wiosenno-letni :D

One of my favorite features of Zen Browser is the Glance feature. You can open links in a Glance, which is an overlay window that pops up over the current tab for quick viewing of a link.

You can also click a button on the side of the overlay popup window to create a new tab with the overlay window and current tab side by side in split view.

Like, I somehow forgot or didn't think about this feature when I switched to Vivaldi a few months ago, because it's so convenient that I don't want to not have it.

I think I'll be on Zen Browser for the foreseeable future, unless something major breaks (not likely).

Found a neat setting in #ZenBrowser. As someone with way too many pending/archived/unloaded tabs, being able to avoid accidentally loading them is nifty.

[Enabled] Ignore Pending tabs when cycling with Ctrl+Tab

#ZenBrowser, que me livrou do #Firefox, que me libertou do Google Chrome

#ZenBrowser is very nice, the only thing I don't like about it is that when it crashes, or even sometimes when I close it, it forgets all the open tabs, no session restore... and with the last update it lost even the pinned tabs, everything: very annoying :(

Help!! I'm using the zen browser and my drop down menus are transparent. Needless to say this makes my bookmarks unusable. Ideas? #ZenBrowser
