Il y avait de quoi être pessimiste. Le second mandat de Trump promettait des heures sombres, notamment avec son projet assumé de nettoyage ethnique de Gaza. De son côté, Netanyahou se sentait les coudées franches : les bombardements redoublaient, rompant le cessez-le-feu, perpétuant une situation catastrophique pour les Gazaouis, et cherchant à abattre de nouveaux verrous démocratiques. Quant au Hamas, il semblait régner en maître sur la bande de Gaza.

Pourtant, depuis quelques jours, un vent d’espoir souffle. Des milliers de Gazaouis se regroupent et marchent pour protester contre le joug du Hamas à Beit Lahia, Jabaliya et Khan Younès. Quelques jours plus tôt, 100 000 Israéliens et Israéliennes manifestaient contre leur gouvernement à Tel-Aviv, Jérusalem, Haïfa, Beer-Sheva, et ailleurs.

Ces mobilisations rappellent une vérité fondamentale : les peuples ne sont pas monolithiques et ne font pas automatiquement front derrière leurs dirigeants. Si quelqu’un nous disait : « Vous êtes français, donc vous soutenez Macron », nous ririons au nez de notre interlocuteur.

De même, considérer tous les Israéliens comme des cibles légitimes, intrinsèquement complices des crimes de guerre de leur gouvernement, relève de l’essentialisme.
