Read this warning if you have a #LogBurner:

Our chimney has a #cowl encased in wire mesh to keep out hornets and small birds. Amazingly, the wire mesh has burnt away, and now birds keep flying into the #flue, from which they can't escape. We obviously can't leave it like that, but the cheapest quote we've had so far is £660. Apparently, you can't legally fix it without the right certification, and where there's a certification scheme, prices go — well, through the roof.

I'm guessing this happened over Christmas, when we had elderly relatives round and I kept on burning wood all day. The flue liner will have had time to get seriously hot. From now on, I won't burn more than two consecutive loads of wood. If anyone has a better idea, I'd love to hear it.

I love these oasts because they are so unique. #Oast houses or hop kilns were (or are) used to dry hops for brewing, and many have been converted into charming houses. The cowl keeps the weather out and allows a flow of air through the #kiln. You see them a lot in #Kent and other regions of #England. This one here can be found in #Pluckley. The #weatherVane is a nice touch I think!

A partially finished crochet cowl made with alternating double crochet and cluster stitches in the back loop only. The yarn cake is two toned with a beige running through the entirety while also going from peach to coral to mauve to an almost orangey pale yellow. The pinky shades look a bit like lipstick colors lol.

Changement d'échelle : à ma gauche sac tricoté avec des aiguilles 8 mm et 200 gr de laine (il reste 54 cm de la pelote), 60 mailles, à ma gauche col, 80 gr, aiguilles 2,5 mm et 200 mailles.

Plus sur ces deux tricots et astuces à suivre.

L'idée tricoter encore deux-trois trucs avant de toucher à mes deux dernières commandes Bergère de France. Déjà finir la pelote du col (mitaines), achetée en 2014.

NB : je préfère vraiment les aiguilles 2,5 mm.

A pale blue cowl with yarn with mohair and silk.

Finished knitting the "motorcyclist neck warmer" (free pattern on Ravelry) in grey Berroco "Mistico" yarn. Very soft and fluffy! I already bought a skein in dark blue to knit another one. Might even do a third in their plum color. It fits perfectly, though I had to frog back several times to change needle sizes, even after doing a swatch. Feels soft, light, and cozy. 🥰
