🧵 I sort of gave up on using #vcvRack as a #DAW replacement.
It did work. Quite well, I must say.
So basically, #DAWless digital, including #VST plugins.
Then I found out I don't like dawless producing. The dawless folks probably are related to the tape folks: We play everything live, because editing audio or midi is cheating.
Turns out, as far as I am concerned, it's not about editing, but about mixing live. I am not satisfied with the mix+master I do live in VCV rack. It would be good enough for a livestream. But not for a proper release.
Then came the point where I thought: Mh, some piano would fit in here. I always keep my piano mic'ed up ready to rumble. From that point on, recording just made so much more sense in a multitrack recorder, and then doing the proper mixing afterwards.
Luckily, there's #Jack and #Pipewire, so us #Linux users can route multiple outputs from VCV into #Ardour. It's heavy on my old CPU, though…
Question to anyone and everyone making #ambient music/soundscapes, preferably with #synthesizers:
Is there a reasonably affordable (around 100$/€) delay pedal that you'd recommend to someone (me) just dipping their toes into making music?
I don't want to spend 200-300$+, so something like the Chase Bliss Mood is waaay out of budget 😅
If enough people say "just buy a cheap one and have fun" I might as well just do that.
boosts appreciated!
Another live sonic journey from the Photosynthesis studios.
This time it’s by Rachel Carns, one of my all time favorite musicians/artists (The Need, Kicking Giant, Nudity, The King Cobra/Twin, and many others), performing on a Moog Grandmother and a Korg Multi Poly.
Released a new house music track today, analog produced by a human with midi hardware: https://simontunez.bandcamp.com/track/second-this

#introduction Hello, I am a family oriented male type complete with dad bod and dad jokes. I am an electronics nerd, engineer by trade and consumer of by choice. But by night, my alter ego is a spectacularly bad musician that goes by the stage name dnparadice. I'm into #dawless with #synths and #guitar If you want to hear something, give this a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p57aAZHnvYQ
I'd love to be able to play the kaosspad in key, but from what I can tell there's either this free glide mode, or just four zones (?)
The device does speak midi, but only cc and no note on or note off messages, taken from the midi implementation chart.
Telephone Mazurka is a piece of electronic music of mine that elaborates a telephone ringtone and classical mazurkas. Rigorously dawless.
Today I'm reissuing it to diffuse it to opensource music platforms like Bandwagon and Mirlo, too.
If you wanna listen it's here:

Telephone Mazurka è un mio brano di musica elettronica che rielabora una suoneria del telefono e le mazurche classiche.
Oggi l'ho ripubblicato per espanderela diffusione anche alle piattaforme opensource Bandwagon e Mirlo.
