Download the map of the city and you can get around OFFLINE with just GPS.

What happened after I deleted Google and disabled their services from my phone?

My only perception is the battery life is much better.

Most people prefer the Google Play Store over manually installing apk's directly from the authors. But I am delighted there are nicer alternatives for all of the convenience that Google captured from open source projects.

In einer werbefreien social media-Umgebung leben zu können, ist mir sehr viel wert.
Dafür finanziere ich gern meine eigene Instanz.

Ich sehe regelmäßig, was für einen Werbemüll meine Frau auf Facebook präsentiert bekommt.
Und auf #Threads wird es wohl kaum besser werden.

Ich verstehe, dass Firmen und Instutionen aktuell nur schwer auf #X / #Instagram / #TikTok / #Facebook / #Threads / #Bluesky / #Youtube etc. verzichten können.
Aber ich kann.

Alles, was mit #Youtube zu tun hat, wird rückstandslos gefiltert.

Ich versuche, die kommerziellen Datensammler immer konsequenter aus meinem Leben zu verbannen.

Google Maps ist derzeit noch meine größte Schwachstelle. Die Alternativen sind einfach noch zu schlecht.
(Nein, #OpenStreetMap und diverse Apps drum herum kommen noch längst nicht an die Usability heran! Leider.)

I'm trying not to use Google Docs.

But I need a sign up sheet where people can list themselves as volunteers for recurring events.

Ideally, this would live on a wordpress site and have a layout that is not worse than a shared Google sheet.

I'd also prefer not to pay £40 for the privilege of running this.

Suggestions?
