I have quite a few CC0 sound samples available (mostly vocal stuff) on freesound.org if you are looking for audio to use for whatever you want............

freesound.org/people/NobodyYou?

You need an account to download.

It's probably been used to train AI, I made it CC0 so I can't complain/whinge about it. I haven't come across my own voice in the wild..... yet.

I sampled the Eurorack module ‘Noise Plathora’ by Befaco and published 50 noises on freesound.org under a Creative Commons 0 licence.

Portland had a pretty cool storm yesterday afternoon, sadly my apartment sort of faces the wrong direction in this case, but here's what it sounded like from my window:

I am still continuing my #RustLang The Book studying and learning. I've reached my personal first hard-to-digest concept with Smart Pointers but I am still plowing through.

However, I am here to post a little cli utility I made that satisfies a very personal need: to credit the #Freesound samples in my music.

Crediting samples was something I begrudgingly did in the past. Not because I didn't want to, but because it was cumbersome and tedious. Thanks to my cli utility it takes seconds now! It also outputs a final markdown ready for Zola that I can use with my label website. yay!!!

At first I made very rookie mistakes and wrote very stinky code. I am happy to report that as I learned more with The Book, I have refactored my code and rendered it more idiomatic. I have also added unit tests and doc comments Not that my cli app exposes an API or anything, just as a learning experience.

Any feedback appreciated!

I am loving Rust very much!

I will never not get super stoked when I hear about someone using my recordings they found on freesound. The creativity I get to share in is very meaningful to me. As a thoroughly non-creative person it's a joy to live vicariously.

Portland rarely gets thunder. While it's becoming a little more common with the climate change I still run to set up my recorder to capture it. Usually this is a sure sign there will be no more thunder, but not today. Today was THUNDER.

I can only think of two practical use cases for using waveforms. The first use is to visually help edit audio files in an audio editor. Audacity uses waveforms to display audio files to users.
audacityteam.org/

The second is on a web page to display an audio files. The Freesound website uses waveforms to display a collaborative collection of 640,816 free sounds to users.

In the past few days I have been debilitated from the heatwave and low energy. So I have paused #RustLang The Book (after the module system) but I wanted to still do some #Rust and I watched enough videos already.

So I attempted a utility that I need with my music making, to properly credit #Freesound samples I use in my music.

This is the MVP I coded in a day or so. At first I copypasta-ed and then started getting into the groove and coding my own code (revising and removing copypasta!) with the compiler helping and the included documentation.

It certainly stinks (but what do you expect! first time attempt and I haven't finished The Book yet) and it could be improved 100%. However, it fits my needs and it works. I will definitely adjust it to spit out the complete page for my label site but! All things considered, I am happy :)

Had a pretty satisfying weekend recording in the forest. Classic damp everything and a persistent Swainson's Thrush. Maybe a distant dog in there, along with distant rumble from something. Anyway, the bass response from the 8020/8030 combo is nuts and a joy to listen to as well as transport compared to the SASS.

Good news: New Microphone.
Bad news: I'm going to record everything in M/S for a while
