Just finished reading “The Lavender Scare: The History of the Federal Government’s Persecution of the Gay Community in the 20th Century” by Charles River Editors. It’s a short read but gives interesting context around the Red Scare in the U.S. and how gay people became perceived as liabilities especially by McCarthy during his communist witch hunt.
