I’ve been trying Ghostty since 1.0. Today v1.3 landed and it has officially replaced WezTerm as my favorite terminal. #Ghostty

Hmm, gestern mal #Ghostty am Mac ausprobiert, und ich weiß echt nicht, warum das die Leute so hypen. Direkt in ein paar Dinge reingestolpert, die kaputt waren und in den GitHub-Diskussionen dazu sagt der Entwickler nur "works on my machine". 🤷‍♂️

Gut, ein paar Dinge davon waren Spielerei (Quake-Terminal-Größe wird ignoriert, Icon lässt sich nicht anpassen), aber wenn man sich per SSH verbindet und das Terminal jeden Tastendruck mehrfach anzeigt, dann ist das schon echt kaputt.

All these quality of life improvements in #ghostty. 😍 Congrats to the whole team for 1.3.

The native notification on command finish! I've had a #fishshell plugin for I don't know how many years for this... I'm going to need to test this magic. 😎

Again, for the day crowd, #Ghostty finally added search. It might unseat iTerm2 for me.

#Ghostty 1.3 finally has built-in search and is an all around great release. I really hope their move to a non-profit project protects it long term.

Ghostty 1.3 is full of features I have been waiting for, like scrollback search and split dragging. It also contains tons of things I never thought about but are really cool, like chained key mappings. Really good release worth giving the changelog a quick (not so quick) read.

When working with fancy terminal emulators (foot, kitty, Ghostty, etc.) over SSH, you may encounter glitches because of missing terminfo on the remote machine.

To fix it, you need to transfer your terminfo.

Geek stuff: I ditched iterm for #ghostty and started using the dracula plugin for #tmux.

One feature I find really useful is the current git branch and status appearing in the status bar.

Turns out building #ghostty from source is broken and has been broken since November, and now I have to patch it before I can install it and that's a fucking bummer. AND the patch requires semi-weekly updates, else it'll break again and again.

grumble, grumble...

this is why #ghostty is better than #kitty
