Thinking today about the fact that here we are in 2025, three decades after #groupware was invented, and we still don’t have good, easy to use, inexpensive/free groupware.
Lack of good communications system is causing critical failures in the operation of public entities.
The problems I see in the operations of my town government and politics could be easily addressed with a good groupware system that accommodates both public and private asynchronous discussion with archivability.
We are considering moving away from Microsoft for office work. Moving to GSuite is not an option.
What alternatives are out that that manage:
* Email
* Groupware
* File management
* Teams replacement
* Office suite
I'd prefer something integrated and, this is key, affordable for a small business. NextCloud looks great but it isn't something we can pay for.
Something that won't shock our users would be good
