dOTRsmoker, a FET pre-amp inspired by the Orange OTR-120 circuit.

The idea originally was given to me by a friend guitarist that was experimenting with various pre-amps. As a fan of the OTR-120 he suggested that it would be a nice option to have a transistor based reproduction of the OTR's pre-amp in a pedal footprint. And... here it is!

While many builders tend to call it "tube emulation" I am not a fan of this term despite the fact that many people out there use it.
The goal was to build a FET-based circuit with similar topology, same controls, with a frequency response close to the original pre-amp and
with a relatively high-gain capabilities.

The parametric EQ (Bass/Treble) is exactly the same as in the original circuit and the Presence control was implemented in a similar way, originally in the triode's cathode, here on the FET's source. The F.A.C. (Frequency Attenuation Control) behaves in the exact same way while minor changes have been made to the capacitor selection in order to maintain its flexibility similar to the original.

A voltage doubler has been added in order to provide the FETs and the circuit with the necessary headroom and gain range.

The circuit has been tuned for gain-oriented use and even with the gain knob at minimum position the sound doesn't clean up completely but it has a slight grit and goes up to high gain levels when turned to maximum.

dOTRsmoker is actually an all-around drive/distortion pedal with great range and flexibility. We designated it as "pre-amp" because its design
was based on a pre-amp and of course it can be used as one since it provides more than enough output volume especially in high gain settings
and can take other boost/drive pedals in front of it if you want to push it.

- True bypass
- Voltage Required: DC 9 Volt (voltage doubler inside)
- Polarity: Negative tip
- Current consumption: 8mA
- Enclosure dimensions: 120 x 95 x 35mm (4.72 x 3.74 x 1.37in)

This is the mini Buffer with variable output Impedance and it's suitable for use with a guitar, bass and any other instrument with similar pickups.
A buffer is a circuit where the output is the same as the input. The "secret" is that this particular buffer circuit has a very high input impedance (10Mohm) and variable output impedance (0~220kohm).

Without getting into many details this eventually means that it improves the high frequency response of your overall pedal chain so that you don't lose your tone as your highs aren't getting sucked up.

Additionally, through its single knob you can adjust its output impedance to match the output impedance of your guitar pickups so that any pedal (e.g. a vintage fuzz, or any low input impedance pedal) that comes after the buffer behaves in the same manner as when you connect the guitar directly to it.

A buffer can also help you run long cords without risking losing tone or making your sound bassy and muffled

- Input impedance: 10Mohm (constant)
- Output Impedance: variable 0~220kohm
- Voltage Required: DC 9-24 Volt (Use 12-24V for more headroom)
- Max Current draw: 4mA @ 9 volts
- Aluminum Enclosure, dimensions: 93 x 38 x 32mm (3.66 x 1.49 x 1.26in)

U2B. Unbalanced-to-Balanced converter (active DI Box)

This is a simple, active converter (transformerless) that takes an Unbalanced signal and converts it to Balanced while also offering an independent THRU output so that you still have the unbalanced signal available for any further use. The device is suitable for instrument level or line level signals as well and is noiseless.
A volume knob is available for the Balanced output that ranges from Mute (at min) up to unity gain (at max).

A high input impedance and low output impedance ensures that your signal will be routed to the interconnected devices without any tone loss and preserving its original fidelity even if you use long cables.
You can power the device with a DC Voltage ranging from 9V to 24V.

Please do not connect phantom power to the XLR output or it might lead to circuit damage. Although the capacitors of the XLR output canwithstand the 48V of the phantom power for a short period of time, leaving the phantom power ON for long periods can eventually cause damage.

- Input impedance: 10MΩ
- THRU Output impedance: 100Ω
- Balanced output impedance: 200Ω
- Voltage required: 9-24V DC
- Polarity: Center negative
- Current consumption: 8mA @ 9V

This is the evolution [V2.0] of our classic FuzZ-2 Bass.
"FuzZ-2 Bass" is a massive FuzZ specially designed for bass, with a unique character that squeezes growling dirt out of your amp. It delivers a tasty and massive fuzz effect and can produce a great variety
of sounds and tones by just adjusting a couple of knobs.

Its blend circuit ensures that you’ll never miss your low end. An octave-up (fuzzed) function is also available in order to achieve a fuller spectrum and more massive fuzz effect. The Mids-EQ can be completely bypassed in case you want a different mids response.

Controls explained:
- DRY: adjusts the level of DRY signal that reaches the output. The dry signal goes through the pedal unchanged and is not affected by any other of the pedal’s knobs.
- WET: adjusts the level of the fuzzed signal.
- TONE: adjusts the tone of the fuzzed signal, ranging from crunchy to totally dark.
- MIDS EQ: This s actually a sort of sweepable notch filter. At minimum position the notch is at 214Hz and as you turn it clockwise it moves higher in spectrum while smoothing out gradually. At maximum position the notch is almost completely smoothed out with a slight dent at about 500Hz.
- Toggle switch "bypass": If you want to completely bypass the above MIDS-filter just turn this switch to the "bypass" position.
- COMPRESS: This knob adjusts the amount of compression caused by the fuzz circuit. Increasing compression also increases the depth of the fuzz effect.
- GAIN: Sets the intensity of the fuzz. At lower settings it might sound close to an overdrive.
- OCT. foot-switch: when engaged it adds the fuzzed octave to the output producing a more massive result and a fuller spectrum. A slight
boost to the volume is to be expected.
- Toggle switch “Guitar”: If you ever want to use this pedal with a guitar this switch may help you make the pedal a little more “guitar friendly”. Additionally, turning the EQ toggle switch to the bypass position may also help.

Variable High Pass filter 200-20Hz with variable output impedance.
Are you searching for something that will help you "clean up" the low end? This is it!

This is an active variable HPF that offers you the ability to select a cut-off frequency anywhere inside the range 200Hz-20Hz by using the respective knob. The filter’s curve is quite steep offering a
12dB/octave attenuation.

Additionally, by using the 2nd knob you can change the output impedance of the circuit and choose a value in the range: 0ohm-220kohm.

This feature can be useful in some cases where a pedal with low input impedance follows the filter (e.g. a germanium fuzz, vintage effects, etc) and might sound much better when paired with an output impedance that resembles the impedance of an instrument’s passive pickups (typically around 10k-20kohm) or even higher.

It’s the ideal device if you are looking for something to help you "clean up” the low end of your signal. It will work fine with active or passive instruments, as well as with other devices such as pedals, preamps, or even in FX loops.

The HPF circuit can be completely bypassed using the footswitch (true bypass).

--- Specs ---
- Cut-off frequency range: 200Hz-20Hz (12dB/octave)
- Input impedance: 1.8Mohm
- Output impedance: 0ohm-220kohm
- True bypass
- Voltage required: 9V (max 24V)
- Polarity: Negative tip
- Current consumption: 5mA
- Weight: ~185gr.

MEKKA fuzz (Germanium version) is a result of an idea my friend 'Orestis' had for a custom fuzz pedal a while ago. With some experimentation and some changes & additions the final circuit for MEKKA fuzz was born.

The circuit draws elements from ‘70s Soviet fuzz circuits and from contemporary fuzzes as well and at its core a couple of Soviet Germanium transistors are responsible for the gnarly sounds it can produce.

The addition of a two band Baxandall EQ same as the one used in the Orange OR120 amplifier is what adds to the pedal extra versatility, offering the ability to create countless more tonal results.
The EQ can be engaged or completely bypassed with a toggle switch.

Controls:
- Stability: Keeping it fully clockwise produces the most predictable results. In any other position it will most likely start producing oscillations which are audible when you’re not hitting the strings of your instrument.
- Gain: Turning it clockwise increases the intensity of the fuzz.
- Compress: Generally it changes the way the circuit responds to your picking producing a more compressed result and also changing the attack. In combination with a low Stability setting in can create some interesting results. It also changes the tone and softness of the fuzz.
- Gate: Turning it clockwise results in a more “gated” sound and it also reduces any squeals and buzzing noises
- Vol: Output level.
--------------------
- Voltage Required: DC 9 Volt
- Polarity: center negative
- Max Current draw: 20mA

The MEKKA fuzz in this specific form is a limited series pedal and very few pieces will be produced since we’re not fans of the Germanium hype.
